Andranik Hakobyan (poet)

Andranik Hakobyan (Armenian: Անդրանիկ Հակոբյան) (born November 26, 1959, Madina, Martuni Region, ASSR) is an Armenian poet, publicist, statesman and public figure.

Biography edit

Andranik Hakobyan was born in the village of Madina of Martuni Region. He graduated from the secondary school N.1 of Artashat, afterwards the department of philosophy and sociology of Yerevan State University. Hakobyan taught history and social sciences in schools, worked as a school supervisor in Artashat District National Educational Department, later in AKP Ararat district commissariat. In 1991-1999 he served in the Armed Forces of Armenia, from 1999 to 2004 he worked in the Government of Armenia. From 2004 to 2008 he served in the Police of Armenia. Hakobyan is the Chief Adviser of the Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia.[1] He has been awarded with state medals, commemorative medals. Hakobyan is the author of poems, short stories, essays, novelettes, journalistic publications.
