Alexander Oluwatayo Akande (born 9 February 1989 in Lagos), more commonly known as Alex Tayo, is a Nigerian footballer. He currently plays for Tai Po in the Hong Kong First Division League.

Career

Akande arrived in Hong Kong from England after a year with Waltham Forest at 18. He played for Advance Tai Chung in the Hong Kong second division which peaked the interest of first division side Eastern Hong Kong and they signed Alex in January 2009.

Akande spent two weeks training with Premier League club Blackpool and played in their last pre-season friendly against Hibernian and a weekend with Football League Two club Accrington Stanley.

Akande is now working on his paper that will allow him to play in England - he lived in England with his British family before moving to Hong Kong.^{[citation needed]}
