Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were in contention for the world No. 1 singles ranking. Djokovic retained the top ranking after Alcaraz withdrew from Acapulco sidelined due to injury sustained in Rio the previous week.[2] Medvedev ended Djokovic's 21-match winning streak in the semifinals which dated back to 2022 ATP Finals.

This tournament marked the retirement of former top-50 player Malek Jaziri. He lost in the first round to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
