Monster of Ravenna

edit

A page which I created, Monster of Ravenna, is listed in Special:NewPagesFeed with the alert "No citations" despite possessing multiple citations. What causes that warning to be displayed / is it broken? The page is also not yet indexed on Google, although I understand that is due to it not being yet reviewed by the new pages patrol. RexSueciae (talk) 01:36, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

NewPagesFeed is an automated tool unable to detect citations made with {{sfn}}. I don't know the details but maybe it can only detect <ref>...</ref> written directly in the page source. noindex is automatically removed after 30 days if an article is not reviewed by then. I think the clock started when it was moved to mainspace 14 February. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:07, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant, thanks! RexSueciae (talk) 02:15, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Contributions page

edit

Ever since I tried out the translation tool for one article, my contributions page has a large and bulky header that just gets in my way. And I can no longer just click on "contributions" to get there—now I have to click twice and choose from a menu. I don't want either the header or the menu. How can I get rid of them? — Gorthian (talk) 02:20, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Gorthian: Disable "Content Translation" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:52, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: That did it! Thank you. — Gorthian (talk) 17:39, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I found an error, not sure how to fix it

edit

I was in the article about the Village Museum in Tanzania, listed under "national museum, Tanzania" in Wikipedia. The article says "The Kijiji cha Makumbusho, or Village Museum, established in 1996, is an open-air ethnographical museum located in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam, on the road to Mwenge and Bagamoyo. It showcases traditional huts from 16 different Tanzanian ethnic groups. There are also examples of traditional cultivations, and traditional music and dance shows are held daily.[2]" 1996 is wrong. It was founded in 1966. Seems someone did a typo. The wrong info has also been entered in another web page I saw, about tourism in Tanzania. I visited the museum in around 1970, and I still have my old guidebook to Kijiji cha Makumbusho, published in 1966. Can I scan and send part of the booklet to someone, who could maybe fix the error? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.21.47.195 (talk) 04:19, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've found a reference for 1967 and added it - X201 (talk) 08:59, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Makes sense the guidebook could have been printed in 1966, and museum opened in 1967. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.21.47.195 (talk) 05:41, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

user lock out

edit

I used to write and edit Burma related articles under the user name Wagaung. I found I cannot log in now and trying to reset the password met with the response no email address under this name. Yet there still exists my User: Wagaung and talk pages. Please help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.36.240.134 (talk) 14:00, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you've forgotten the password to that account and you didn't register an email address connected to the account, then you won't be able to regain access so you'll have to register a new account. David Biddulph (talk) 14:29, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
User:Wagaung has not stored an email address in the account. If you don't remember the password then you have to create a new account. You can write on the user pages that the accounts are by the same user but the edits cannot be transferred to the new account. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:40, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How to create ?

edit

Hello Sir/Madam, I'm new on Wikipedia. I want to write or make a page about a company. I'm attaching the details below. Please tell me is it sufficient or i have to make changes, If possible can you guys make a page about it.

Gearup99 is a biker networking community where bikers can meet other bikers, riders, enthusiasts, the finest babes, and those who just like hangin' out on the scene. Gearup99 is the best place where bikers meet along the internet highway. Gearup99 bring together those who share a deep passion for the ride and the open road. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamsumitsareen (talkcontribs) 15:48, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It definitely needs more, otherwise it would get deleted as it is. See Wikipedia:Notability. —MRD2014 📞 What I've done 15:51, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

National Conference for New Politics

edit

I would like to create a page for this organization which existed in 1967 and nominated Martin Luther King for president and Benjamin Spock for Vice President. I have a brochure that was used at the time. I believe this information is very relevant at this time when we are very confused about politics in this country and think it is impossible to have a third party. I'm not all that savvy about computer technology and really don't want to learn a whole new system, but I was so disappointed when I googled the organization and all that came up was this very derogatory article in the Chicago Tribune and there was nothing on Wikipedia. kathlissKathliss (talk) 17:59, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Kathliss. I'm afraid that reliable sources are the absolute foundation of everything in Wikipedia. If there is only one article about the organisation in a prominent newspaper, then there is simply not enough information on which an article can be based, and no article will be accepted (the Wikipedia jargon for this is that it is "not notable"). However, if it was from the 60s, it was well before the Internet, and it is quite possible that there are reliable sources for it, just that they are not available through Google. Perhaps if you researched at a major library, you would find enough material in major newspapers or in books from reputable publishers. Please have a look at Your first article and Referencing for beginners. --ColinFine (talk) 11:45, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Page Deletion - Coy Bowles

edit

Hi,

I created a Wikipedia page for Coy Bowles yesterday, and it appears to have been deleted and redirected back to Zac Brown Band. I checked the deletion log, and it is not listed there either. Can you provide an explanation to what happened to this page?

Thank you! Amy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Awilliamss (talkcontribs) 20:06, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It hasn't been deleted. It was converted back to the previous redirect, as you can see from the history. David Biddulph (talk) 20:12, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2 things please 1)Please help me remove an unnecessary apostrophe in the section "Olive Middleton" on this page - Lupton family. My device will not allow me to get rid of the apostrophe on the word "Potter's". It should read Potter - without the apostrophe. 2) Another editor says that there cannot be a direct link to the Olive Middleton section (on the Lupton family page) to the ancestry section on the Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge page. This is wrong. Please can you do this immediate link. Thanks 101.182.96.231 (talk) 21:36, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  Done both. Maproom (talk) 21:58, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
