 Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Task!! edit

Hi @Cellina Starfire, I hope you are doing fine in this new year. I found you on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/List of participants and now I am here to request you to take part in this small task if you are interested in any way. The task here is to put in the template by replacing the exsting format, like I did it here: here. Thank you. Keep contributing!! 456legendtalk 10:24, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Adopt edit

Hello Cellina Starfire, I saw the seeking adoption tag on your page. Was the request specifically for improving the Andrea Bocelli article, or are you looking for guidance on other areas of Wikipedia too? Jay 💬 07:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'd love help with both. Learning more about Wikipedia in general will help me improve the Andrea Bocelli article, and it can help me in the future, too! (School has been taking my time lately, so I haven't edited much currently... I would love to get back to it sometime, though!) > Cellina Starfire: talk? 17:33, 28 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
As you are already into typo correction and copyediting, going through the articles from Category:Wikipedia pages needing cleanup can help you get into other aspects of article writing. The target is to fix the problem in the article for which it is tagged, and then remove the tag, so it doesn't show up as problematic any more. The same editor may not be able to fix all problems, but may do what they are comfortable with. For reference, WP:CLEANUPTAG has a list that articles are tagged with. Adoption edit

Hey there @Cellina Starfire, would you still like to be adopted? I'd love to help you out! Please reply with a ping (@Mseingth2133444) if yes. Mseingth2133444 (talk/contribs) 00:17, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Mseingth2133444 I would still like to be adopted, yes! I've been random article patrolling lately, just trying to get used to editing and to learn by doing. I hope to reach the point where I can improve articles to featured level, and having an experienced editor to help me learn how to do that would be ideal.
(Fun thing: you have "444" in your username, which is my lucky number. If that's not a good sign, I don't know what is, lol.) > Cellina Starfire: talk? 01:54, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Gerda! I am new to Wikipedia, yes, but article improvement is a goal of mine anyway, so I figured I'd join the group so I can learn more. Andrea Bocelli's article will be featured one of these days if I have anything to do with it...! > Tesseractic: talk? 23:57, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great plan. List reviews on the project, please! And review, to get the feeling for what will be needed. - Today I see Marian Anderson as my top story (by NBC, 1939), and below (on my talk) three people with raised arms, - and the place is the cherry blossom in Frauenstein. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:51, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Relief: the last of six RD articles in one week is now on the Main page - yesterday I went to a great recital with many anti-war songs by Jewish composers whose music was banned by the Nazis. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:00, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

May 2024 edit

Hello, I'm CanonNi. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Violin Concerto in A minor (Bach)—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talk|contribs) 03:30, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

That contribution was completely legitimate - the man who analyzed the piece had the last name "Butt". I reverted a past edit because they assumed the same thing as you. > Tesseractic: talk? 03:33, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Pinging @CanonNi to ensure you see this so I can revert safely. This one was a vandalism false alarm. > Tesseractic: talk? 03:49, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about that, please revert then. It was my mistake, I saw a edit replacing "But some" with "Butt" and reverted. Sorry! If you wish, you can remove the warning. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talk|contribs) 03:52, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I totally understand the mistake - thanks! > Tesseractic: talk? 03:54, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

GA mentorship edit

Hi Tesseractic! I noticed you posted a request for a GA mentor, and I can answer that! I mostly have experience with video game-related articles but have also reviewed biographies. Would you like to pick a good article nominee to get experience with or would you like me to put together a list of some that might be good to start with?

P.S. I'm also always available on the Wikimedia Discord under the same name ~Adam (talk · contribs) 22:41, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

A list of GANs that I could review would be nice. I'll make sure to message you here or on Discord if I have any questions! Thanks, > Tesseractic: talk? 16:55, 5 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I have a shortlist of articles I picked from the GAN list. Before reviewing, if you haven't already, familiarize yourself with the GA criteria and the reviewing instructions. One of my favorite essays on Wikipedia is "What the Good article criteria are not", which I also recommend reading -- it gives some pointers on how to interpret the GA criteria and warns against common pitfalls (especially being overly strict in a review); of course, it's just an essay.
All that said, I chose some articles from the Music and Video games sections which you indicated are areas you edit in/are interested in. There is only one nominated chemistry article, and I also chose not to list any science articles, since these have additional considerations to review, primarily the use of technical language and jargon, and how the article reads to a broad audience. Music and video games shouldn't really have this problem (to the same extent)! I gave some ideas of why I chose certain articles and some possible cons to each. In general, I avoided inexperienced nominators, very new nominations, and articles that were too long (in my opinion). Ideal articles for your first couple reviews are already well-written and relatively short, with not many sources to check.
Music
  • Cecelia Hall (mezzo-soprano)
    •   Experienced nominator who seems responsive during reviews (although their first language is not English), relatively short prose, sources look like they're on the web, no image copyright to check
    •   Medium number of sources to check, requires special attention for BLP, somewhat inconvenient sectioning,
  • Mai Fujisawa
    •   Incredibly short article (one of the shortest noms I've seen), nominator is experienced and active in peer reviews (and responsive in previous GAs),
    •   Would not recommend because it's so short that it won't be a great learning experience, and there are some considerations like broadness that will stand out more as well. Maybe pick up another short nomination in addition to this if you can (just picking one at random from the Songs section, maybe Pero Dile or Follow Me (Zoey 101))
Video games
  • Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome
    •   Medium-short article, only 42 citations, nominator has many GAs and reviews in this topic area, at a glance appears like a reasonably high-quality article, it follows a very standard article layout for video games
  • Fallout Online
    •   Very few sources to check (24) and almost all are on the web, prose looks high quality at a glance, nominator has a history of excellent articles and seems responsive during reviews
    •   Medium length of prose (not bad)
Feel free to open a review for one of these and let me know, or ask me if you have any questions first. You can also just ignore these and pick any open nominee on the list, but keep in mind the reasons I picked these (I don't think there was any Italian music in there, but I could have missed one!) . I can always answer questions or provide a second opinion during the review process as well.
P.S. I almost forgot! GANReviewTool is an incredibly helpful script to automate this process and I would highly suggest installing it! Review the passing instructions to make sure you know what steps the script takes on your behalf. ~Adam (talk · contribs) 22:14, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Cecelia Hall looks like a good article to review! I've installed GANReviewTool and I'll definitely be reading that essay!
Thanks so much for the recommendations - I will look into the review tomorrow, most likely. > Tesseractic: talk? 00:08, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
