Rollback

I have granted the "rollbacker" permission to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, contact me and I will remove it. Good luck and thanks. – Gilliam (talk) 11:07, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Cole's law

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as Cole's law, is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks, that was just an April Fool's joke. On a normal day I never do that. I'd thought of doing a joke for 1 April for the annual celebration. Iggy (Swan) 16:42, 1 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sheldon Murray

Hello Iggy the Swan. I wonder do you think that this user's edits need some discussion somewhere? They seem to be contrary to infobox advice. Or perhaps a Talk page warning might be required? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:42, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, a discussion should be used to determine what detail should be needed. Another Wikipedian named Mattythewhite had also reverted some of these contributions as well, quoting "Not needed" as part of the edit summaries. While it is three editors against one {while another one thanked me for this edit), it seems likely there could be agreement on displaying minimal detail as possible. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:44, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's what the current advice on the infobox template seems to call for. Perhaps one of the interested editors could invite User:Sheldon Murray to a suitable neutral venue for discussion? Martinevans123 (talk) 21:09, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, repeated editing of adding too much detail to infoboxes regarding London boroughs should be considered disruptive. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:15, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
It seems User:FMSky is happy to just keep reverting. They have now left a request at User talk:Sheldon Murray. So we'll see what happens. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:30, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I assume the IP address commented would not be that same person operating, at first glance I thought it was. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 17:40, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've just seen that now, thanks. I have no idea who that IP might be. But they may be mixing up historical locations (which is wholly correct) with overly detailed locations (which are not). I guess in some cases they might overlap. But most of Sheldon Murray's edits seem to be for modern BLP articles. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:51, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Is it just me, or do the edits here look a little bit similar? Regards. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:51, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
FMSky has now done a global revert. Regards. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:51, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll have to agree these two users are operated by the same person. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:14, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Both now indef blocked. Martinevans123 (talk) 07:24, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Which includes a couple of other sock accounts. I've checked these contributions myself, they are obviously very similar. This user fails to take note of the "formal warnings" by FMSky and Discospinster. I have no idea when future edits will appear next on my watchlist or elsewhere.
