I see you have replaced the photo of Johann Hari - I just meant that it seemed odd to have a photo of a journalist of questionable professional ethics in such august company as George Santayana and Sir Salman Rushdie - but now I see he is referenced in the article as well. This article now has a useful map, except for the part in German. Before just cropping it, I thought I'd ask you what could be done. Also, there seems to be some reason to explain better why the road ran where it did, which is a matter of finding out where the old road was, to which the mediaeval causeway provided a shortcut that could justify a toll. Amazon source edit

- I am suspicious of the source. It looks like a single-agenda site, created by someone with an issue. I would prefer to wait for the issue of the New York Review of Books previously cited in the material deleted from the article. June 7, I think. - I see that the NYRB article is available, at [[1], but without paying I can only read the first page, which does not mention the controversy. I believe that you and David kilmer have been handling things well, and the original protagonists have stopped acting. So I am happy to leave things to you. July 31, 2012 India blackout edit
Hi, this is regarding the map ("Indian states affected by July 2012 power cuts") you uploaded on the July 31, 2012 India blackout article page. You seem to have modified it by adding Uttarakhand and removing the eight northeastern states (Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura) in the second version. The following are my comments:
- As per most sources of information, including the article itself, as well as the following referenced sources from within it [[2]] and [[3]], the power outage did very much affect the 8 northeastern states as well (on the second day, i.e. on July 31, 2012). Therefore, I would request you to restore that image to its previous (first) version itself, and come up with another version that adds Uttarakhand but does not remove the 8 northeastern states. Alternatively, kindly create a new map that includes all the states in the second version, as well as the 8 northeastern states.
- The file name mentions the term "power cuts". Please note that these were *not* power "cuts" (that imply pre-planned and decided/announced load shedding), but power "outages".

Yes, "power outage" is better than "power cuts". You didn't need my help to make that change, indeed some other editor did make it.
I have altered the map, and the caption under it in the article, in what I hope is the way you have requested. Not all sources of information are in agreement, so I am just going along with what you say. I suspect that I may have got the status of Sikkim wrong. Now that I have got the map uploaded, it is easy for me to change the colour of any state, so please leave any further requests here. I will make them if I am at home and awake. Hi Maproom! Thank you for your feedback from a few days ago. I read what you had to say and I appreciate it, but now I'm flummoxed again. Except for the comment that it didn't explain the notability of the subject (an error I will take care of), all the rest of it reads as if the original declined version is still sitting within Wikipedia; that being the version you proofed. I've been looking at the most recent version of the article submitted here (and declined by Excirial) but the errors pointed out to me by you don't exist within the preview page of what I'm seeing. There is no syntax error causing any conspicuous Error Message and the references are showing up at the bottom of the page as they should. Additionally, there is nothing showing the subject as the author of either this article (he isn't) or within the reference sources. Perhaps someone should have the webmaster take a look-see for "ghost copies" of the older version, which shouldn't exist? I will make the 'notability' change and resubmit, as everything else pointed out to me, simply doesn't show up when I call up the PREVIEW PAGE of my last and most recent attempt. Obviously, if I'm doing something wrong that everyone else is able to see but I, tips and procedures would be appreciated. Beyond that, only the notability factor, is not within the article I've got at hand and I'll be fixing that as soon as I send this off. Thanks for your time and energy!

Hi Maproom! Thanks so much for your feedback and suggestions. I've removed the blue lines. However, I don't know why the little ^ symbol isn't working on those reference sources. I removed and re-inserted the "reflist" command, but that did nothing. I've inspected each of those three citations against the remainder that work to see if they are missing something that would generate the proper execute command for those symbols and they look proper. Does Wikipedia have a resident webmaster or programmer who could look at it and advise a method to correct (or if it is something at Wikipedia that should be taken care of)? - I don't know why those three references don't work properly while the others do. But here's a suggestion about how to diagnose and fix the problem:
- Delete your reference 1, which does not work, while keeping a copy of the ref tag somewhere. Copy reference 3, which does work, into its place. Look at and test the result. Replace the first field of the copied tag by the first field of the deleted tag. Test again. Then the second field, etc. Maproom (talk) 21:06, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

The reason the caret symbol doesn't work on references 1, 2, and 4 is because the information in those given references contains information supporting more than one fact in the article, so that reference is utilized multiple times for substantiaition. That's why you can't click on the caret. The caret only works when it's a reference to a single substantiation in the article. You have to click on the a,b,c, etc. next to it to be taken to the appropriate spot when it's used more than once. At any rate, I resubmitted this article for someone -- anyone -- to review again just over two weeks ago and not a soul has looked at it. Can you advise me on how I can get someone to look at this now for (hopefully) approval? - Congratulations on figuring out how the carets work!
- I have made some changes to the page, using standard Wikipedia formatting in place of your non-standard methods (I recommend looking at other articles to see how it is done). I think the following changes still need making before your article is approved:
- Figure out why the "Contents" appears where it does instead of in its proper place at the top of the article. I suspect it is related to your use of non-standard formatting. Fix it so that it appears at the top.
- Break up the article into a short lead followed by a few sections each with a title (formatted in the standard way).

When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. On another note, I read with interest your concerns on your userpage about inline "citation needed" tags. The actual time to remove the template is after you have added the requested citation. The removal of the "cn" tag is not left up to the person that identified the issue. - Ok, here are three questions.
- When you added a disambiguation tag to "Aaron Robinson ...is an American composer, conductor, ...", did you really believe that disambiguation was necessary?
- If you did, why didn't you do the disambiguation yourself?

- If it wasn't necessary, I wouldn't have added the inline maintenance tag. If one person requests disambiguation, the appropriate response is for the person that added the term to disambiguate said term. It is inappropriate to remove maintenance templates, without addressing the issues raised.
- The responsibility rests with the person that added the ambiguated term. See conductor for possible areas of confusion. Keep in mind that not all readers of en.wp use English as a primary language.
- Disambiguation may be helpful in the Charles Villiers Stanford, but not required. That said, if an editor requested disambiguation, the responsibility would be for the editor that added the term to disambiguate said term. Hope this helps. Thanks. Cindy(talk to me) 11:35, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Chian diaspora edit
Thank you for thinking me informed enough to speculate on where the Chian emigres came from. The article Chios quotes (no ref!) the "Greek embassy" as saying there were 20,000 Chians in America today. Still, it has been almost 200 years, so a lot of descendants could be from a relative handful of immigrants. The Chios article also says 5/6 of population of 120,000 was killed, expelled or enslaved. Does article Chios massacre say that?
I do not know where the emigres came from. I would imagine many "fell through the cracks," by escaping, immigrating from Chios (20,000 left THEN), buying their freedom, or (who knows) descending from rich merchants abroad, for all I know.
