Plurality edit
This user is plural; we have two members, Eszter and Lily, who will front and edit Wiki projects. It is not required to memorize our names; referring to any of us by our username DancingGrumpyCat is sufficient.
If we use a first-person pronoun to describe ourselves in totality or in plurality, it will be "we" or a similar pronoun in any language. Any one of us referring to themself alone will use the pronoun "I," or again a similar pronoun in any language.
Eszter edit
Name edit
My name is Hungarian in origin. It is a cognate with Esther (Hebrew: אֶסְתֵּר).
Pronunciation edit
- (General American) US: /ˈɛstər/
- (Received Pronunciation) UK: /ˈɛstər/ or UK: /ˈɛstə/
- (Hungarian) /ˈɛstɛɾ/
Pronouns edit
Ze/zir/zirs is a set of neopronouns (see also gender identity). They are declined similarly to she/her/hers in English:
Pronoun: | she or ze | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Example 1 (NOM): | I liked the edits | she | / | ze | made. |
Example 2 (POSS): | I don't agree with | her | / | zir | decision. |
Example 3 (POSS): | The rights to that design are | hers | / | zirs. | |
Example 4 (DAT): | I gave my permission to | her | / | zir | to do that. |
Pronunciation edit
ze: US: /ziː/ zir: US: /zɪr/ zirs: US: /zɪrz/
Xe/xir/xirs is also an acceptable pronoun set, pronounced the same way.
Preferred pronouns in other languages, and other gendered identifiers edit
In languages with personal-gendered parts of speech such as Spanish or Hebrew, refer to me in the female (Spanish: ella/su, Hebrew: היא). Please never refer to me with any masculine identifiers (including "sir"); female or neutral ones are available in any language.
Lily edit
Name edit
My name is directly derived from the flower, genus Lilium. It is also short for Lilith (Hebrew: לִילִית Lîlîṯ).
Former name edit
I formerly went by and will still respond to Violet (US: /ˈvaɪəlɪt/). I currently use it as a middle name.
Pronunciation edit
(IPA) /ˈlɪli/ (Lily) or /ˈlɪlɪθ/ (Lilith).
Pronouns edit
My preferred pronouns are the same as Eszter's.
Interests edit
Computer programming edit
We have been programming for 8–9 years, since our junior year of high school.
Editing/Proofreading edit
We enjoy editing, proofreading, and generally any maintenance task which appears more clean, polished, or complete afterwards.
Game development (tabletop) edit
We create board games.
Vector graphic design edit
We create vector art, mainly for use in diagrams and our board game prototypes.
Linguistics edit
We speak English and Spanish with fluency, and we study linguistics for the purpose of conlanging and worldbuilding. We'd like to learn Yiddish, and have an interest in the cyrillicization of Yiddish writing from a linguistic standpoint disregarding any political implications.
Mathematics edit
We have a calculus-level understanding of mathematics and we are learning linear algebra.
Music edit
We have been practicing cello for 14–15 years, practice piano occasionally, and study the theory of how to play many other instruments. We use this knowledge to compose and write about music. We have an affinity for xenharmonic (also called microtonal) music. We appreciate videogame music and its composition but have no experience with DAWs.
Our taste in music to listen to ranges from Western art music to heavy metal to big band, among many other genres.
Pedagogy edit
We aspire to teach ourselves and others with accuracy, brevity, and clarity.
