Did You Know A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on July 24, 2008.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that when playing at the 2008 NME Awards in support of their triple-nominated single "Flux", indie rock band Bloc Party were stunned by the scale of the gig?
Current status: Former featured list

self serving garbage article edit

why on earth does this article exist? is there a "List of Radiohead awards" article? no, there is not

Reaffirming Previous Point edit

I can see that the last guy was actually trying to make a very valid point. This page is near pointless. They have only ever won 2 awards from EIGHTEEN nominations. Not anything against the band, it just doesn't really constitute a whole page on it. You also don't see awards pages for many other bands. If no-one disagrees, i'd like to nominate the article for deletion? --SteelersFanUK06 TalkMe! 04:02, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

As the creator, I completely disagree. Including such detailed coverage of this nature (participation in extremely notable award ceremonies) in the article itself would be massively unwieldy. WilliamH (talk) 13:33, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm not suggesting that all of the information on this page should be included, only some of it. The reason i feel this article is needless is there are far to many mentions of nominations for Awards which are not altogether that notable. Mentions of actual winning awards should be mentioned, but not every single nomination. 2 of 18 isn't spectacular. You can see why they would have a page for List of Arctic Monkeys awards, as this band have far more nominations as well as wins, but i don't think the same need is reflected here.--SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 02:50, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I'm not convinced. Not seeing this/that/other articles is extremely fallacious ground: they simply might not have been made yet. This is an extremely strange turn of events: one person suggesting this is Featured List material, the other endorsing its deletion. Perhaps some sort of discussion can unfold here, as such opposite ends of the scale are subjective to say the least. WilliamH (talk) 16:40, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
This article meets the unofficial requirement of a minimum of 10 items, and it meets the minimum requirement of a minimum of two awards won (otherwise the plural "awards" would be incorrect). It's similar to my other featured list, List of Rage Against the Machine awards, in both categories. Gary King (talk) 18:31, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
The nomination was made by yourself! I feel that the article should be condensed not to include as many of the nominations, include awards and notable nominations, and merged with the article. I'm going to throw it out to the people... Please comment there! :) --SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 18:37, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
If you're talking about the RATM awards, then yes, that was made by me; I did say "my". Gary King (talk) 18:42, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
sorry, that comment was directed at WilliamH, regarding this article. Things just came out a bit strange because of an edit conflict. I don't see why you feel the need to be hostile towards me, I am only trying to improve the article. --SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 18:47, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't mean to be hostile if it seem that way. I just found it strange that you would say "The nomination was made by yourself!" when replying to me, so obviously there was a miscommunication. Gary King (talk) 18:48, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's because my comment was not in reply to your comment. If so, then the response would be indented once more than your comment, as this one is. Instead, it was written on the same level of indentation as the comment I was replying to. I didn't write above you so as to confuse the chronological order of the article.--SteelersFanUK06 ReplyOnMine! 18:53, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • To disambiguate, the "one person suggesting this is Featured List material" comment is not me, it's actually in reference to Gary King, who did so very recently on my talk page. WilliamH (talk) 13:44, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
