Jeanne-Irène Biya died in office in Yaoundé at the age of 56 under suspicious circumstances.[4][5][6][7][8] She was succeeded by Chantal Biya as first lady of Cameroon in April 23, 1994. Intrestingly enough there is speculation of whether or not Mr. Franck Emmanuel Olivier Biya was born to Mrs. Jeanne-Irène.[9]
