HAPPY HOLIDAYS 2023 edit

This edit caught my eye... edit

Thought you might find it of interest. At Sneedville, Tennessee *previously known as Chvcksville* was added...using a V instead of a U...so very clever. Shearonink (talk) 00:14, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Well, I'm sure they feel clever, at least. I don't think this is a major problem anymore; best just to treat it as a WP:RBI matter when they slip past the filter. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 00:22, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

would this be okay? edit

can I send them my username on Fortnite? Ill delete it after, and well talk on fortnite EdenBAnn (talk) 22:22, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do not share any personal information that be tracked to your real-life identity. It's not likely in your case, but Wikipedia users have been known to get death threats. "Deleting it after" won't help; everything you say on Wikipedia is recorded in the page history. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 22:33, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

A cupcake for you! edit

  Hi, sorry about all the mess on my friend's talk page. We will figure it out, how to talk to each other on a different website. So here is a cupcake as an apology. Quirkykiana (talk) 22:38, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! You weren't causing any major harm, but if that had gone on for thousands of edits, someone would have eventually taken harsher action. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 22:46, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

RFA2024 update: phase I concluded, phase II begins edit

Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:

See the project page for a full list of proposals and their outcomes. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated so far :) looking forward to seeing lots of hard work become a reality in phase II. theleekycauldron (talk), via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:09, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you! edit

Without your help via email, I wouldn't be able to assist with some changes to vandal filters like 936, and your FilterDebugger script is quite useful in my EFFPR and edit filter work. Codename Noreste 🤔 La Suma 22:59, 12 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Projectspace Redirect blanking edit

Hi Suffusion of Yellow, I just saw this thread and was actually surprised that this edit was not picked up by any filter. I was wondering if that can be changed. (I'm asking you directly instead of posting at WP:EF/R since you created Filter 1151 (log)) Nobody (talk) 09:18, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Well, I created that three years ago, but my own notes say that without the throttle, there are so many FPs [the] log is hard to pick through. Not sure if this is worth the trouble for non-reader-facing material. If they do it a few times, then stop, that's not a big deal, just revert and warn. If they go on a "spree", the filter will stop them. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 18:51, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I assumed there was something like that. My idea was that a log only filter like:
new_size < 100 &
equals_to_any(page_namespace, 4, 5, 12, 13) &
!("confirmed" in user_groups) &
(
(
redirect := "^#\s*redirect\s*\[\[";
removed_lines irlike redirect
)
) &
!(page_title irlike "sandbox|correct typos in one click|missing encyclopedic articles|fix common mistakes") &
!(user_name in removed_lines) &
!(summary irlike "^(?:undid|revert|rv)") &
page_first_contributor != user_name &
!oauth_consumer

could give me some hits to look at, but not sure if it's worth the trouble. Nobody (talk) 05:36, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Actually, the recent changes "filters" can do this. Try something like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?userExpLevel=unregistered%3Bnewcomer&hidebots=1&hidenewpages=1&hidecategorization=1&hideWikibase=1&hidelog=1&hidenewuserlog=1&namespace=4%3B5%3B14%3B15&tagfilter=mw-removed-redirect&limit=100&days=30&urlversion=2. On the one hand, except for a single MfD, every edit was reverted. On the other, only 36 edits in one month. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 18:24, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I did not know Recent changes was flexible enought to do this. I changed Category to Help Namespace in your link and it works just like a log filter. I'll keep my eyes on this and fix alse false positives for my code. But if I can fix all false positives then I'll probably request a disallow filter for this. Nobody (talk) 05:55, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm keeping the code at User:1AmNobody24/Projectspace Redirect blanking. If you have any improvements feel free to add them. Nobody (talk) 07:03, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

iOS app edit

I noticed your edit here. I only use the app on an android phone but I'm invested in making sure the app is usable on both platforms. I'm pinging JTanner (WMF), who will hopefully be able to figure what's going on here. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 19:22, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I'm kind of burned out by the whole WP:THEYCANTHEARYOU thing and don't want to do a huge amount of testing. I don't even use these apps except to find out what other people are experiencing, and almost never use iOS. But for JTanner's benefit, I'm describing the behavior of a fresh install of app version 7.5.1 (3601) on an iPad Air 2, iOS version 15.8. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 19:36, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

FilterDebugger.js edit

Thank you so much for writing this. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite user scripts. Would you be open to changing the "debug" menu links to be capitalized? It would be the only lowercase item in my entire Tools menu. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:54, 11 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
