March 2024 edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for edit warring, as you did at World Figure Skating Championships. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 22:10, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • There's no need to file an SPI as I blocked the user as a sock yesterday. Your block will expire in about an hour.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:11, 12 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Bgsu98,

Please do not tag a template for speedy deletion until it has been processed at TFD. This template was transcluded on a lot of pages (you can see it here) and it would have been disruptive to delete it before these had been taken care of. Usually the admins who help out at TFD take care of templates that need to be deleted rather than having the templates tagged for speedy deletion because templates are more complicated than articles of redirects. Please review instructions at [for discussion/Holding cell#Closing discussions] and do not tag any more templates for speedy deletion until you have removed all transclusions. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:56, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Liz, Thank you for your explanation. I have removed the template from those pages, and apologize for any inconvenience. Bgsu98 (Talk) 09:34, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Deprodding of Becky Bereswill edit

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from Becky Bereswill, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

I'll also add, as I said to you here for the first time on April 20, that failing NSKATE alone (or most subject-specific guidelines) is not a sufficient reason for deletion if there is significant coverage in reliable sources to suggest that a subject passes WP:GNG/WP:BASIC. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 21:47, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

She won the 2008 JGP Final; she should never have been nominated for deletion. Thank you for catching that for me! Bgsu98 (Talk) 21:52, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have sent you a note about a page you started edit

Hi Bgsu98. Thank you for your work on 2015 Turkish Figure Skating Championships. Another editor, Voorts, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Please remember to tag redirects that you create per WP:REDCAT.

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Voorts}}. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

voorts (talk/contributions) 01:26, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Voorts:, I am not familiar with tagging redirects. Do you have any suggestions? Bgsu98 (Talk) 01:48, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I recommend reading REDCAT and familiarizing yourself with the redirect categories (WP:TMR). I use User:Eejit43/scripts/redirect-helper to make the work of tagging easier. voorts (talk/contributions) 01:50, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Are you doing WP:BEFORE searches? edit

Hi again, I notice your rate of deletion nominations hasn't slowed down and your rationales continue to be just "fails WP:NSKATE". Yesterday you added 14 AfDs and 4 more PRODs to an article alerts page I check, and at least one of the articles nominated pretty clearly passes GNG. It's hard to trust that you've done your diligence searching for sources as required by WP:BEFORE, especially for subjects where coverage would be expected in other languages, when you're asking to delete more than ten articles a day for more than a week, and your response to me above indicates that you may still see NSKATE as the end all vs GNG which it is not. Please slow down and refresh yourself on BEFORE and perhaps the notability guidelines in general. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 01:55, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Are you doing WP:BEFORE searches? I sure am. Thanks for asking. Bgsu98 (Talk) 02:01, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
You've recently been issuing these prods in many cases at the rate of 1 per minute. I'm not sure how much of a WP:BEFORE search can be accomplished at this pace. Remember that if these subjects meet WP:GNG (requiring a search in reliable sources) but not WP:NSKATE (requiring a review of competitions), they're notable and should not be deleted. ~Kvng (talk) 16:25, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I guess we disagree with what qualifies as “significant coverage”. Bgsu98 (Talk) 16:30, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that can be subjective and thus often requires discussion at AfD. If there is coverage in multiple reliable sources, it's not an uncontroversial deletion IMO and should go to AfD, not prod. ~Kvng (talk) 16:39, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have no problem with that and will leave it to the community to decide whether they merit being kept or deleted. Bgsu98 (Talk) 16:40, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please be careful about what you prod in the first place. 1 per minute is not careful IMO. You can't rely solely on me to catch your mistakes. I'm not sure how many incorrectly deleted articles the community is willing to tolerate in service of this cleanup effort. To be safe, I personally would rather we leave this stuff alone. I know that's not how everyone sees it. ~Kvng (talk) 16:49, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please for the love of all that is holy edit

Bundle your AfD nominations. The page is unusable with that many of the exact same entry.

Kingsmasher678 (talk) 02:52, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Kingsmasher678, I apologize; there will be no more AFDs in the near future. Bgsu98 (Talk) 04:32, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Just adding a to this even though you replied; 50 AFDs in one day - this is considered disruptive editing. Some of them may be kept very fast. That being said, it was right of you to take a critical look at figure skating pages. Mind the volume though Geschichte (talk) 07:12, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thirding this feedback so there is a sense of community behind it. I follow the Women in Red article alerts, and even that curated selection is overwhelmed by your nominations. I recommend that in some distant future scenario to either bundle them or spread them out across days—just nominate a couple in a single day or something. Hydrangeans (she/her | talk | edits)

Yuna Kim A-class assessment edit

Hey Artemisialufkin, would you mind assessing this bio? I'd appreciate it if you did, here's the link: Wikipedia:WikiProject Figure Skating/Assessment/Yuna Kim. Best, Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 17:42, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Figureskatingfan, did you mean to post this on my page? Bgsu98 (Talk) 17:51, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yah sorry, that's what I get for doing two things at the same time. My apologies, I cut and pasted from Artemisia's talk page without changing the address. My bad. Yes, I was asking you to assess Kim's bio. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:36, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Figure skaters from Maryland edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Figure skaters from Maryland indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 04:33, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Category:Denis Ten Memorial Challenge templates edit

Hello, Bgsu98,

Regarding the categories you tagged, categories can't be deleted until they are emptied. Otherwise they leave red link categories which are not permitted. Please do that first before tagging a category for deletion. This is part of the CFD process. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:26, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the information; I did not mean to make anything difficult. Bgsu98 (Talk) 02:28, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
