Acronyms

edit

Hi! I saw a comment from you at WP:RFPP that you were having trouble with some of the acronyms used at Wikipedia. We do love to throw those around! I've been here over 19 years, and I still have moments of "what the heck is she even talking about with that alphabet soup??" Anyway, most of the time, there's a page associated with an acronym. You can find it by using the search box and typing in "WP:insert acronym here", and you'll be sent to the appropriate explanatory place. Cheers! Joyous! Noise! 17:28, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Edits at Template:Syrian civil war infobox

edit

Hi, you recently changed the capitalisation of links under the parameter part of in the infobox. Part of is a heading and headings in WP are written in sentence case, capitalising links as they would appear in prose. Capitalising such links (ie changing to upper case) was contrary to WP:P&G when the article titles would not be capitalised in prose. While I corrected war on terror, this was reverted by you contrary to P&G. As such, the reversion could be seen as tendentious. Other links are also miscapitalised and the link to Kurdish–Turkish conflict (1978–present) (piped as Kurdish–Turkish conflict) is more appropriate than Kurdish–Turkish conflict, given the former is contemporaneous with the events of the Syrian civil war. In the circumstances, I would strongly suggest self-reverting this to that which existed prior to your initial edit. Cinderella157 (talk) 02:57, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I was not spamming your page with the alerts. You have edited across areas which are applicable to one alert but not another. It was therefore reasonably appropriate to alert you to the CTs for each particular area. Cinderella157 (talk) 03:01, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Cinderella157: FYI, Kurdish–Turkish conflict (1978–present) is a redirect to Kurdistan Workers' Party insurgency. I chose Kurdish–Turkish conflict because the PKK wasn't the only Kurdish militia fighting in Syria. AHI-3000 (talk) 03:03, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK, I can live with that, though it does indicate a problem with the articles. At a glance, the Kurdish–Turkish conflict suggest the Kurdistan Workers' Party insurgency is the only thing rising to a conflict (as opposed to some rebellions). Cinderella157 (talk) 03:16, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
