Bedouin/bedouins

edit

Either are acceptable as the plural, but 'bedouin' as plural is far more common, so I have reverted changes back to bedouin. Jasper33 09:51, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Arabic for "Safaitic"

edit

Could someone add to the article the Arabic word for Safaitic. it helps to know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Libyansamarkand (talkcontribs) 03:22, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done. (http://www.awu-dam.org/trath/71-72/turath71-72-005.htm Article from the Departmental Journal published by the Arab Writers Union in Damascus) along with this very interesting article, but in Arabic. Michael Sheflin (talk) 06:55, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I initially added the wrong word, I think. I put up a better link to a Safaitic-centered article and the spelling used on that page. Michael Sheflin (talk) 19:00, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Safaitic is a continuum of dialects including the ancestor to Classical Arabic

edit

--... and shows it with his isoglosses; by contrast with Arabian languages like Taymanitic that don't share those isoglosses. Safaitic is therefore, itself, Arabic. The han / al thing doesn't matter here. Refer to Ahmad al-Jallad and his argument before wiping out the relevant edits. --Zimriel (talk) 21:47, 20 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Sound file for Safaitic equivalent of Arabic ظ , OSA 𐩼

edit

In the chart of the script, for the letter writing sound corresponding Arabic ظ and OSA 𐩼, the sound file for [w] has simply been repeated rather than an appropriate sound ([t͡θʼ] ? [ðˤ] ?) put in. I defer to experts in how to remedy this error. Mardinli Deli (talk) 06:31, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
