THE
LIFE OF JESUS

The 21st century has witnessed an increase in scholarly interest in the integrated use of archaeology as an additional research component in arriving at a better understanding of the historical Jesus by illuminating the socio-economic and political background of his age. The chief contribution of archaeology to the study of the historical Jesus is the reconstruction of his social world.

The article New Testament places associated with Jesus lists the New Testament locations and discusses their role in providing a better understanding of the environment in which Jesus lived.

This comprehensive volume edited by Charlesworth provides an excellent perspective on how recent archeological elements shed light on the environment in which the New Testament narrative takes place.
