Ove Almborn and Lund Cathedral

edit

Hi Esculenta, it's me from the Anders Bure article again. Sorry to soil your recently cleaned talk page! I was just bumming around the GA nominations section and saw you have nominated the article on Ove Almborn to GA, and got curious. I saw in your article that he wrote his first paper on the lichen flora of Lund Cathedral. I (re)-wrote most of that article (and got also that one promoted to GA, by the way) and in particularly enjoyed adding a small section on the flora of the cathedral. I'd love to add a line about Almborn and his paper there, what do you think? Which source should I look at in that case, would you happen to have a link? Best, Yakikaki (talk) 20:49, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think that would be an excellent addition to the flora section, and I believe the Frödén (2009) source that's used in the Almborn article would be good for this, because it's secondary and it's about Lund. In case you can't access the source, here's a quote (pp. 460–461): "Almborn was introduced to lichenology by Bertil Hedvall, and when he came to Lund to study at the university in 1933 he was already interested in the subject. His first article on lichens was published in 1935 and concerned the lichen flora on the ancient cathedral in central Lund (Almborn 1935)." I haven't been able to find Almborn 1935 online. p.s. The lichen redlink bugged me, so I whipped up an article for it. Interestingly, even though the species was (weirdly) not validly published, it's still notable in the Wikipedia-sense. Esculenta (talk) 03:44, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I added it – happy to see that redlink gone, too. Nice working with you. Best, Yakikaki (talk) 18:39, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Parmotrema perlatum

edit

So glad to see you've tackled Parmotrema perlatum! (It has long been on my radar too.) As one of our most-read articles, it was certainly well-deserving of the "Esculenta treatment". ;) MeegsC (talk) 09:48, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Heh, that article had been sitting on my hard drive as a partially written draft for about 2 years. Then I saw the Bilorv challenge "Vitality", which gave me the impetus to finish it up. Am now on a side mission to complete as many Bilorv challenges as I can with lichen-related articles :) Esculenta (talk) 15:25, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
