Tamborine Mountain State High School is a co-educational, state secondary school located on Tamborine Mountain, in Queensland, Australia.[1] It is administered by the Department of Education, with an enrolment of 898 students and a teaching staff of 85, as of 2023.[2] The Department of Education has implemented an enrolment catchment area for Tamborine Mountain State High School.[citation needed]

History
editTamborine Mountain State High School originally opened its doors on 29 January 1990, under the name Helensvale State High School.[3] In 1999, Tamborine Mountain State High School opened as an annex of Helensvale State High School,[4] known as 'Helensvale State High School, Tamborine Mountain Campus' from 1 January 1999 to 31 December 2000.[3] By 2001, Tamborine Mountain State High School became a standalone school,[3] with a name change on 1 January 2001 from 'Helensvale State High School, Tamborine Mountain Campus' to 'Tamborine Mountain State High School',[3] and was given its independence, becoming a full-fledged high school in its own right by 2002.[4] The first group of Year 12s graduated in 2002.[citation needed]
Defamation Case
editIn 2019, Tamborine Mountain State High School principal Tracey Brose launched defamation action against five parents, claiming more than $1 million in damages for comments made about her on Facebook and a Change.org petition while she was temporarily suspended from her job in 2016.[5][6] In 2020, Judge Catherine Muir ruled in favour of Brose and ordered Donna and Miguel Baluskas to pay $3000 in damages each.[7][8]
