Note a

edit

I am still relatively new to editing on Wikipedia, so forgive if I've missed something.

I was wondering if there was any way to check what URL is being referenced to by Note [a] regarding the mascot being a platypus.

I attended the school and while the axolotl as an unofficial mascot tracks, the platypus doesn't match with any experience of mine. The note references the the bookstore's page, but I'm having trouble finding it.

Thanks,

Brendan

I have found this page on the school's website that makes a small reference to it: "Although the college does not have an official mascot, it does have a few unofficial ones—the most prominent being the axolotl and the platypus."

There is some confusion between the founders of the school St John and the founding of the nation unless of course Charles Carroll was a founder of both of the nation and the school! Charles Carroll should be removed from this article. Who were the Catholic founders of St John! We’re their any! ZebaZubin (talk) 19:55, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

One of the dormitories at the school is named Paca-Carroll after William Paca (1740-1799), so presumably Charles Carroll is correct. This is reinforced by the claim on Carroll's article, although the citation is now either a dead link or behind some sort of wall. I will try to find it with the WayBack machine when I have the chance. Considering the age of the school, the local prominence of Carroll, and the tradition of naming things after founding fathers, I believe this is correct.
Since this article mentions Carroll in reference to the original charter, I will try to do some more digging to confirm. If possible, I'll stop by the college and see what I can find. Breich9 (talk) 19:50, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
