Let's figure out the scope of this article. It is named Protected designations of origin, but it seems used for Geographic indications (of which PDO is just one of the 3 types used in the EU and the UK) in general. This report from 2021 shows there are on 1 January 2021 under the EU scheme 3286 geographic indications, of which there are 1800 PDO's. For a list-type of article that is too much. Moreover, this list contains indications which are not PDO's, either because they stem from a non-EU scheme, or because they are an other type of GI (eg they PGI's)
For this article we have the following options:
make it a list of all 1800 EU/UK PDO's
make it a list of all 3286 EU/UK Geogrpahic indications
describe the characteristics of the UK/EU PDO with some examples, and make sublistarticles per country
describe the characteristics of Geographic indications, which requires a merge with Geographic indication
