- Because the aera was called "Parc des Princes". In the XVIIIth century, it was a wood used by the king and the princes for hunting. Clio64B 11:50, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Demo of the velodrome was mid-70's not late 60's edit
Old text: Originally a velodrome, it was the finish of the Tour de France from the first event in 1903 until the track's demolition in the late 1960s.
