Talk:North American blizzard of 1996

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified (January 2018)

I have removed from "The 1996 Blizzard is the fourth largest snowfall in Washington, D.C.'s recorded history. 17.1 inches of snow fell at National Airport (now called Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport), the fragment — ,which has been the cause of much contention, as numerous reports indicate that an amount greater than that (probably closer to 20-22") fell".

This fragment was added by 64.83.42.227. In order to include this in the article, we ought to be more specific... which reports? sources? Is the contention about the particular amount? about it being the "fourth largest snowfall", or what? Please see Wikipedia:Avoid weasel words. --Aude 18:45, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Big Meadows actually got 52 inches. Stanley, just West of Big Meadows recieved 42 inches of Snow. So the snow totals should be edited.

White House Station, NJ storm total

edit

The original storm total reported at White House Station, NJ (35 inches) was an error. This was confirmed by investigating NWS personnel. The revised total was 30 inches as currently listed in the storm total table in this article, as well as listed in NCDC's storm data entries which can be viewed here: http://www4.ncdc.noaa.gov/cgi-win/wwcgi.dll?wwevent~storms

Please stop changing it back!Famartin 00:22, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Storm

edit

Why no mention of the other places that got hit by it? Here in Indiana we got hit by at least a foot of snow. And Florida had wind and rains from the same storm that knocked out electricity, downed trees and flooding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.18.10.202 (talk) 23:56, 31 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
