Talk:Late Cretaceous

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

"Late" and "upper" are not synonyms. "Late" is the time term; "upper" refers to the rocks. So you cannot talk about "upper Cretaceous time" or "upper Cretaceous events," and likewise you should not talk about Late Cretaceous chalk.

Also, this graphic, like many showing breakdowns of time designations within geologic periods, suggests that Barremian is a subset of Berriasian, when actually the six stages should be "on top" of each other - i.e., the six are sequential subdivisions of the Early Cretaceous.

AMK152's Geotimeboxes

edit

AMK152 proposed in edits of 27 December 2006 a geotimebox for this article as follows:

Eon: Proterozoic • Phanerozoic • [[]]
Era: Paleozoic • Mesozoic • Cenozoic
Period: Jurassic • Cretaceous • Paleogene
Epoch: Early Cretaceous • Late Cretaceous • Paleocene

I feel that the box information that is appropriate for the article is already in the footer, and that other extraneous information, such as previous eons, can be supplied where important, by links from the text. I removed the geotimebox and left the footer, pending discussionb. --Bejnar 23:17, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sauropods?

edit

The dinosaur section seems to me to be leaving out a very big group of dinosaurs that were prominent during the late Cretaceous period: the Sauropods. Anyone else think so? Should they be mentioned? Sxg169 (talk) 01:29, 17 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
