The following two sentences were removed from the original essay:
"An oddity about this lake is that during the long development time of the ancient mesoamerican civilization, the island called Cuitlahuac was the home site of a culture that no other people could dominate until the island was communicated with land through a street. This street greatly affected the hydrological and ecological stability of the Mexican Basin." (Reason removed: unattributed and I could find no support. Madman 02:25, 4 January 2006 (UTC))Reply

"Chalco is now a slum of Mexico City with a lack of services, increasing crime, and a lot of poverty." (Reason removed: While Chalco is the name of a slum in Mexico City, I believe that they have little in common but the name. Madman 02:25, 4 January 2006 (UTC))Reply

Chalco is a large municipality on the eastern outskirts of Mexico City. Valle de Chalco is a newly created municipality, split off from Chalco in the late 1980's or early 1990's by then-President Salinas de Gortari. Most of Valle de Chalco is built on the old lakebed of Lake Chalco. Valle de Chalco could certainly be described as a slum.
