Correct pronunciation of name

edit

Greetings,

I've added the pronunciation of Joshua Kimmich's name. Since I'm not fluent in German, please forgive any transgressions and feel free to correct it.

All the best,

Some Germans do pronounce Joshua ['yozua] (<< with [z] being a soft s), although there is a name Josua that would fit the pronunciation better. I think most people pronounce it ['yoshua] (like the English pronunciation, but with an initial [y-] sound like in "you" or "yes"). The -ich in Kimmich is pronounced just like the German word "ich" (=I/me; click here to listen to the pronunciation => https://www.dict.cc/?s=ich). It's not a [tsh] sound, but an aspirated [h] (not the hard ch sound that sounds like you're cleaning your throat as in the Scottish word "loch"). --2A02:908:677:6A80:6AFB:2373:E838:FF01 (talk) 10:14, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
