Angel Of Death

edit

Hello,

I have modified the portion of this article that states: "Toppan would administer a drug mixture to the patients she chose as her victims, lie with them and hold them close to her as they died.[2] This is quite uncommon for female serial killers, who usually murder for material gain and not sexual satisfaction.[3][4][5][6]"

This does not seem entirely accurate to me, since there is an entire category of killer called 'angels of death', which Jane seems to fit into better than a killer for sexual satisfaction. It seems the only evidence for her having a ‘sexual motive’ is the quote where she claimed she derived a “sexual thrill”. Furthermore, Toppan did experience material gain. Serial killer motives are far too complex and diverse to be split into simply male and female motives.

I have added this citation to support my change: Farrell, A. L., Keppel, R. D. and Titterington, V. B. (2013), Testing Existing Classifications of Serial Murder Considering Gender: An Exploratory Analysis of Solo Female Serial Murderers. J. Investig. Psych. Offender Profil., 10: 268–288. doi:10.1002/jip.1392
