Defunct tournaments
editHi, @Oluclen:, just wanted to ask you about your recent edits regarding defunct tournaments. I believe the tournaments section is simply for any tournaments, regardless of whether or not they are still played. I do not think that an entire section need be devoted to defunct tournaments, but perhaps a simple note could be placed by the tables for each example of on. You say that I have deviated for the standard, but I do not find any other examples of such a section on other international teams' articles. They simply list defunct tournaments (such as the Confederations Cup) with the rest of their tournaments. For example, see France, Brazil and New Zealand. Vesuvio14 (talk) 17:50, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Unless anybody else objects, I will revert this edit at some point tomorrow. Vesuvio14 (talk) 14:49, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
1988
editItaly finished in 3rd place in euro 88. Update your page with italy receiving a bronze. 2607:FEA8:9921:4740:6576:23F:4053:803A (talk) 05:03, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
Medal record (update)
editFIFA Confederations Cup third place (bronze) in 2013 is missing and another bronze is missing as well, gained at Olympic Games in 2004. 137.222.66.176 (talk) 13:01, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- The 2004 Olympic games were reserved for under-21 national teams, not senior teams. Nehme1499 13:08, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- For Germany in another year, there is a note. Perhaps, it can be added as Under 21 or Olympic team? I think there were at least some over-aged players were permitted 137.222.66.176 (talk) 13:13, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- The medal is already included at Italy national under-21 football team. Nehme1499 13:13, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- ah ok, although it is a bit confusing in my humble opinion. Germany in 2016 won silver with their Under 23s, that's why I was confused. Anyway, also the silver gained losing the final this summer with Argentina should be added to the Medal record? 137.222.66.176 (talk) 13:17, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

Upcoming new Italy logo (source: Footy Headlines)
editWe know that the new logo has already been leaked, and it will be unveiled very soon. Like many new logos, there are many versions of it. But I already beg you to put in this page the blue logo with the white name "Italia" and without the white border. If you search in Footy Headlines article, you'll found it Roby Markz (talk) 13:21, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- We should wait for the official announcement by the FIGC. Nehme1499 14:44, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, of course, but I'm 100% sure so please remember my suggestion when it will be official 🙏🏻 Roby Markz (talk) 16:07, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- There will be two versions of the blue logo with the white name "Italia": one with the white border, and one without the white border. Obviously here it will be better to use the one without. I'm sayin' it again just to be clear 😅👍🏻 Roby Markz (talk) 16:23, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
Italy logo has officially changed. Which one will you choose? The white one or the blue one? The Italian Wikipedia has chosen the white one, probably because of the blue stars, but there is also a blue logo with the blue stars, not only with the white stars Roby Markz (talk) 21:20, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Recently called up
editNot sure it’s accurate to say that players have recently been called up when they have 40+ caps. ‘Recalled’ to the squad maybe. Andyeff (talk) 19:28, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
Immobile named captain but he is not permanent and stable - officially captain only 1 time
editImmobile is not the permanent captain of the national team so far, he wore the captain's armband only ONE time as the official captain, then he has not been called up anymore. 85.165.41.105 (talk) 11:03, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- You keep saying that, but it isn't true. He is captain until the next Euros, as per the source cited. The article says nothing about "long-term" captains or whatever definition you're trying to use, it's simply who has been the captain at any particular time. Right now it's Immobile. — Amakuru (talk) 11:44, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
The source is fine, we know, indeed he is mentioned as the current captain on the top of the national team page, but this is not the point here.
The point is that one has to see and take into account the events and the facts. The fact is that since September, when he has been named captain by new coach Spalletti in an interview, Immobile wore the captain's armband only ONE time, and lately he has been left out of the squad by the coach. This means that his captaincy is almost "virtual" and unstable as so far it counts for only 1 match. So what I said very clearly is that one has to WAIT and SEE before including Immobile in the list of the stable and permanent captains of the history of the Italy national football team.--85.165.41.105 (talk) 17:04, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- Adding "permanent and stable" for that prose displayed is simply redundant. You are making the point such bold citing "permanent" as if it was the main priority for the point itself. Island92 (talk) 18:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
That table is about the "long-term" and stable captains, it has to be underlined; otherwise one can think to add to that list any player who has been the captain during one or a couple of matches.--85.165.41.105 (talk) 17:12, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- Long-term ok, but adding "permanent and stable" is not the case. Long-term already means that.--Island92 (talk) 17:19, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
No, your reasoning here is wrong. If taking your example, Immobile is no longer called by the national team in 2024 and more importantly he is no longer playing and no longer wearing the captain's armband, he should not be included among the historical and long-term/permanent captains since he will have worn the captain's armband as the designated captain only once, on 9 September 2023 against North Macedonia.--85.165.41.105 (talk) 14:25, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- He's no longer, he's no longer, he's no longer. Who knows that? It's not taken into account how many times he worn the captain's armband. He's the current captain until Euro 2024. This is the only reliable information we have because supported by source.--Island92 (talk) 16:21, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Italy March 2024 Fixtures
editHello, I made an edit regarding Italy's upcoming confirmed fixtures against Peru in Miami and against Ecuador in March 2024. Why is this being removed?
