Why would you name "Guangqi Honda" for "广汽本田" but not "Yiqi Toyota" for "一汽丰田"?

edit

Just curious about the naming criteria for the English translation of the name. To me, "广汽" should be translated as "GAC" since the name "广汽" is just an abbreviation of "广州汽车". User3204 (talk) 02:47, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia did not decide which translation is being used, Honda officially calls the JV "Guangqi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd." in English (source) and Toyota chose "GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd." (source) and "Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd." (source). Andra Febrian (talk) 04:34, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
