Weird Sentence

edit

"As an undergraduate at Harvard, Morgan was profoundly influenced by historian Perry Miller, who became a lifelong friend. Although both were atheists, they had a deep understanding and respect for Puritan religion.[8]"

I'm uncomfortable with the implication that Wikipedia is making here that an interest or expertise in the Puritans would imply a particular religious ideology.

disgusting liberal apologist

edit

Morgan was a disgusting liberal apologist and hardly an impartial expositor of "Puritanism" which he appears to have really understood nothing about. He was IMHO, like Hofstadter and Bailyn, a celebrity propagandist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.28.145.40 (talk) 01:57, 23 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

The unanimous consensus among historians who sign their names is that he was one of the very best colonial historians out of many hundreds who worked in the field. Rjensen (talk) 03:11, 23 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
