DescriptionUnited States, Puerto Rico and Hatillo flags in Hatillo, Puerto Rico.jpg
English: While in Puerto Rico I also visited the local veteran’s monument in the town of Hatillo to find that all the bronze plaques were stolen with only a lonely bronze statue of a soldier, standing guard as the only silent witness, waiting its fate to eventually end up at some obscure scrap yard in the near future. As a disabled veteran what angers me the most was looking up and seeing the torn and frayed US flag hanging by a thread, perhaps demonstrating the lack of respect that the local and state government as well as some of the local residents has for those who served.
