Tommy walked out after an on-stage argument between them, with Tommy forming his own band. The brothers reunited in 1945 and consolidated their bands in 1953 to become the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra. Tommy Dorsey died in 1956 and Jimmy died in 1957.
