DJ Johnson (politician)

DJ Johnson (born 1957) is an American politician who has been serving in the Kentucky House of Representatives as a Republican for the 13th district representing parts of Daviess County since 2021. He lives in Owensboro, Kentucky.[1] Johnson had previously represented the district from 2017 to 2019. In 2018, he was defeated for re-election by Jim Glenn (whom he had defeated in 2016) by a margin of one vote.[2][3] In 2020, Johnson successfully defeated Glenn to reclaim his seat in the House.[4]

Johnson was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, and graduated from Apollo High School. He then attended Western Kentucky University, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in communications. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves the same year and served until 1990 when he retired with the rank of captain.

He is the general manager of Midwest Rigging Supply Co. as well as an instructor at Grace Christian Acadamy and a small business consultant.[5]

2016 Johnson was unopposed in the 2016 Republican primary, and won the 2016 Kentucky House of Representatives election against Democratic candidate Jim Glenn, winning with 8,343 votes.[6]

2018 Johnson was unopposed in the 2018 Republican primary, and was defeated in the 2018 Kentucky House of Representatives election by Democratic candidate Jim Glenn, losing by a margin of 1 vote.[6]

2020 Johnson was unopposed in the 2020 Republican primary, and won the 2020 Kentucky House of Representatives election against incumbent Jim Glenn, winning with 9,485 votes.[6]

2022 Johnson was unopposed in the 2022 Republican primary, and won the 2022 Kentucky House of Representatives election against Democratic candidate Michael Johnson, winning with 8,387 votes.[6]

2024 Johnson was unopposed in the 2024 Republican primary, and will be unopposed in the 2024 Kentucky House of Representatives election on November 5.[6]
