Zvezdan Mitrović

Zvezdan Mitrović (Montenegrin Cyrillic: Звездан Митровић, born 19 February 1970) is a Montenegrin professional basketball coach. He currently serves as a head coach for ASVEL of the LNB Pro A.

Coaching careerEdit

Ukrainian League (2002–2014)Edit

During twelve years in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague, Mitrović coached Khimik,[1] Krivbasbasket, Budivelnyk Kyiv[2] and Azovmash Mariupol.[3]

Monaco (2015–2018)Edit

As a new head coach, Mitrović joined AS Monaco in March 2015.[4] He won the LNB Pro B league championship (French 2nd-tier league) in the 2014–15 season.[5] AS Monaco was promoted to the LNB Pro A (French 1st-tier league) for the 2015–16 season.[6] At the end of the season, he finished 2nd in the Best Coach of the Year voting.

In the 2015–16 season, his team finished first place in the regular season, and lost against ASVEL in the league's playoff semifinals. Mitrović was selected as the head coach of the International Team of the 2016 French All-Star Game.[7] In the 2017–18 season, Mitrović led Monaco to the championship game of the Basketball Champions League, where the club lost to AEK Athens. On 16 May 2018, he was named the French Pro A League's Best Coach, for the second consecutive season.[8]

ASVEL (2018–present)Edit

On June 26, 2018, Mitrović signed a three-year contract with ASVEL Basket.[9]

National team coaching careerEdit

Mitrović was an assistant coach for the senior Montenegro men's national team at the EuroBasket 2013, under head coach Luka Pavićević.[10]

On October 6, 2017, Mitrović was named the head coach of Montenegro senior men's national team.[11][4]
