Lithuanian wiki transwiki

Hi. I've created Category:Articles needing translation from Lithuanian Wikipedia with the aim of transferring some of the more notable Lithuanian articles into English. Please help create missing articles from Lithuanian wiki and help translate them into English. If you know any articles which require Lithuanian translation or who want to help create articles to be translated please use a {{Expand Lithuanian}} tag at the top of the article. It is part of a drive to dramatically improve inter wiki content. Thankyou.

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:21, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Bungled investigation into the death of 8-year old abroad

Has media in Lithuania reported about the Investigation into the death of Monika Sviglinskaja? It concerns the 2012 death of a Lithuanian 8-year old abroad that was ruled a suicide at first, until a whistleblower forced the police to reinvestigate, followed by the arrest of a murder suspect, followed by an investigation of 4 police officers, followed by a 2015 report by Riksadvokaten, followed by a chief of a nation's second largest police district being summoned for temporary duty outside his organization, followed by the police district being fined the equivalent of around 20 000 US dollars. There is interwiki, [1], The Monica Case. "The police exposed her (the mother) to direct lies" is a recent news report from broadcaster NRK. --Dourkenw (talk) 08:57, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I found a few stories on it. Why do you ask? Renata (talk) 00:59, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
I found more articles, – Police chief Geir Gudmundsen asked the whistleblower to stay away - Police chief Geir Gudmundsen was, according to witnesses, directly involved in the whistleblower Robin Schaefer being asked to stay away from the Monika Case and Whistleblowers get the Fritt Ords Award for 2015. --Dourkenw2 (talk) 08:28, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Lithuanian vocative

For almost seven years, Vocative case § Lithuanian has had a hatnote requiring attention from an expert, because it claims that it "developed new forms for several classes of nouns." What are the new forms Lithuanian developed? Thanks! — Sebastian 16:40, 3 December 2015 (UTC)

Notability of Indrė Šerpytytė

Any thoughts on whether she passes notability per WP:ARTIST? Should we take it to AfD? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:47, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Birth place

What's the situation regarding the birth place of people born during Soviet period? Do we list City X, Lithuanian SSR, Soviet Union or City X, Lithuania? As far as I know there's no consensus on this and we should somehow keep everything consistent. Your thoughts are welcome. – Sabbatino (talk) 22:00, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

As a completely uninvolved editor, I'd like to offer two possible compromises:
  1. Use the name "Lithuanian SSR" without adding the USSR.
  2. The wording could be "Lithuania", since it's shorter and can easily serve as a term for the SSR, but in cases where there is a link or a flag, those should refer to the SSR.
Sebastian 22:43, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
There's no point in using just Lithuanian SSR, because it doesn't differ from Lithuania in any way (apart from political system). If we list like you proposed, then Soviet Union should come along. I'm asking, because Estonians list Estonia even if person was born during Soviet period (that's their consensus). – Sabbatino (talk) 15:12, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

I just created Category:Paintings in Lithuania and Category:Lithuanian paintings. They have just one entry - if you can think of more, please help populate them. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:04, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

An article "Proto-Baltic language" in Lithuanian

Hi,

I would like to ask somebody for translation of this article to English. In English Wikipedia, an article Proto-Balto-Slavic language does exist. This is a mix of the Slavic and Baltic facts. English Wikipedia (and more than 30 in others languages) contains separate article Proto-Slavic language. I won't argue over existence of common Baltic-Slavic language period. I just think, it would be fair and useful cause to have the articles both for Proto-Slavic and Proto-Baltic languages. I'm asking you for the help again, I hope, you'll understand my broken English :) Write me here, please.--Ed1974LT (talk) 17:05, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

The 10,000 Challenge

Hi, I've proposed an idea based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for a long term goal to include your country and Scandinavia/northern Europe in combined challenge target. At present I don't know whether to make it a smaller target like 1000 for each country individually. If active editors here are interested in seeing mass improvements for their country please comment in the discussion at the bottom of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Intertranswiki. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:49, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Occupation

Hi, I wonder if anyone here could help me with a question. I recently referred to the Latvian SSR as the Soviet occupation of Latvia, and someone asked me if there is any Wikipedia consensus about this. Does anyone know? It must have been discussed... Thanks Yakikaki (talk) 17:56, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

I don't think there can be a Wikipedia consensus on an opinion. Occupation of the Baltic states presents all significant views on the subject: Soviet Union maintained and Russia maintains that the annexation was in accordance with international law at the time and no occupation occurred, although that opinion fluctuated a little, some of the western nations seemed to have accepted the annexation as a fact, while others (e.g., US) never recognized the annexation. The Baltic States themselves maintain that their territories were occupied. No longer a penguin (talk) 11:27, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
That helps, in case there is any discussion I can refer to the main article about the occupation. Thanks for taking the time to answer, Yakikaki (talk) 17:08, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

2016 Community Wishlist Survey Proposal to Revive Popular Pages

Greetings WikiProject Lithuania/Archive 3 Members!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.

Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Best regards, SteviethemanDelivered: 18:03, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

Cannabis in Lithuania needs improvement

We have a new article Cannabis in Lithuania, but it could really use improvement and expansion, especially from anyone who can read Lithuanian sources. With a little polishing, it'd also be really useful to make a translated version for Lithuanian Wikipedia since it's a topic of increasing interesting these days. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 03:39, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Please help with a draft at AFC

Could someone please explain in Lithuanian to the author of User:Marketingo vadyba/sandbox why that draft is never going to be accepted here, and point them to the correct venue at the Lithuanian Wikipedia for the draft. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:35, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

I don't think their lack of English is the problem, since the submitted text is a direct translation of the English article on Predatory pricing. Anyway, they seem to have moved on and put the page on the Lithuanian wiki at [2]. No longer a penguin (talk) 14:12, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Is Alna Group notable?

I prodded it, the creator removed the prod. Before I go to AfD, I thought that since the creator claims it is a major Lithuanian company, I'd ask for input here. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:26, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

@Piotrus:: I think it is (marginally) notable - it's pretty much the largest IT group in Lithuania and one of the largest in the Baltic States. There are lots of articles on it in Lithuanian business press, although it is difficult to tell in Lithuania how many of them are there because of company's own efforts. However, the article looks fairly promotional and one-sided at the moment and should be tagged as such. It says nothing about allegations of corruption in public procurement, for example. Popular pages report

We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lithuania/Archive 3/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Lithuania.

We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:

  • The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
  • The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
  • The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).

We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Lithuania, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.

Warm regards, the Community Tech Team 17:15, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation links on pages tagged by this wikiproject

Wikipedia has many thousands of wikilinks which point to disambiguation pages. It would be useful to readers if these links directed them to the specific pages of interest, rather than making them search through a list. Members of WikiProject Disambiguation have been working on this and the total number is now below 20,000 for the first time. Some of these links require specialist knowledge of the topics concerned and therefore it would be great if you could help in your area of expertise.

A list of the relevant links on pages which fall within the remit of this wikiproject can be found at http://69.142.160.183/~dispenser/cgi-bin/topic_points.py?banner=WikiProject_Lithuania

Please take a few minutes to help make these more useful to our readers.— Rod talk 16:55, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   07:45, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Has medical cannabis been legalized? Need to know when to update Cannabis in Lithuania

If anyone can read Lithuanian sources, or follows the new there, it'd be great if you could help us by updating Cannabis in Lithuania once medical cannabis (medical marijuana) becomes legal there. Apparently it's very close and has been going through parliament, but I can't find clear confirmation in a reliable source as to whether it's already passed. Here's a piece in the Baltic Times that appears to say it's close. Goonsquad LCpl Mulvaney (talk) 23:19, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Soviet_Union#Display_Russian_names_in_footnotes_of_locations_in_the_former_Soviet_Union? for a discussion on whether the Russian names should be put in footnotes in articles about former Soviet Union locations (which existed at the time of the Soviet Union)

2021 IIHF World Championship

Good day

I have been attempting to add content to articles related to the 2021 IIHF World Championship in ice hockey, scheduled to partly take place in Minsk this year. As you may be aware of this is a highly controversial issue and touches upon the legitimacy of Lukashenka. So far I have met rather staunch resistance and accusations of not being neutral in my approach.

What I would like to achieve for:

  • IIHF: there be a brief summary of the controversy surrounding the Championships with reference to the earlier 2014 championships under Controversy. This is an accepted way of describing controversies, which this is.
  • 2021 IIHF World Championship: a detailed discussion of the various actors at play, these include politicians, international organisations and large companies (event sponsors)
  • Rene Fasel: president of IIHF who is doing things in a very bumbling sort of way and seems to want to have his cake and eat it too (here is an interview where he goes into detail)

I would recommed you review the talk pages of those articles to see the slow progress being made. In particular I think that the 2021 IIHF World Championship has gained political significance which in a sense makes it not only a sports event, but a political prize. If it is held in Minsk then Lukashenka scores a point. If not his opponents do. Why else all the fuss? Jabbi (talk) 12:04, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

@Jabbi: The Lithuanian national team plays in Division I so this implied controversy has nothing to do with us. It also appears that your messages here could easily fall under WP:CANVASS since you are going to unrelated WikiProjects and are trying to influence the outcome in those pages. – Sabbatino (talk) 17:28, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
@Sabbatino: It's my understanding that Lithuania and Belarus share a common past and that Lithuanian politicians have been very vocal about the political situation in Belarus. Your comment about the Lithuanian national team does not make sense to me. The issue at stake here has got nothing to do with ice hockey strictly speaking. I belive I am justified in canvassing as the editors of those pages are very ice hockey focused. --Jabbi (talk) 18:31, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
@Jabbi: I belive I am justified in canvassing as the editors of those pages are very ice hockey focused. – very few people care about ice hockey in Lithuania. In addition, I did not encounter any other Lithuanian editor besides me that regularly make edits to ice hockey-related content. So stop making false assumptions. – Sabbatino (talk) 09:34, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
@Sabbatino: that's fine, I think you misunderstand my intention here. I won't waste anyone's time more. Apologies --Jabbi (talk) 10:11, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
I understood your intention, but this is not the place for that since your messages here are subject to WP:CANVASS. Lithuania and Belarus sharing a common history has nothing to do with the current situation in Belarus and ice hockey. – Sabbatino (talk) 12:02, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
@Sabbatino: Let's agree to disagree. This is not about ice hockey. Secondly, you statement that the current situation in Belarus has got nothing to do with Lithuania is not shared by the government of Lithuania. I am not interested in discussing this further with you. Have a nice day. Jabbi (talk) 12:35, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
You have no relation to Lithuania so you can just stop right there. A foreigner cannot know the position and/or situation in/of country so just get off your high horse. – Sabbatino (talk) 12:42, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
As before, the facts speak for themselves: "Lithuania has given refuge to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the main opposition challenger in Sunday's disputed election that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko claims to have won with 80% of the vote after 26 years of authoritarian rule.
Belarus's northern neighbor also is “ready and considering the possibility of accepting Belarusians, suffering from the ongoing brutalities, on humanitarian grounds,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius tweeted on Wednesday.
At the EU meeting Friday, Linkevicius said he called for a special session of the UN's Human Rights Council, sanctions against individuals for use of excessive force and election fraud and the establishment of an EU fund for victims of repression." [5] [6] [7] Jabbi (talk) 13:23, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
You can stop lecturing me about what was done and said by some individuals from the Lithuanian government, because I know it better than you do. Just stop it and go argue somewhere else, because you are using this section as WP:FORUM. – Sabbatino (talk) 19:26, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
  • Indeed, it does make sense that regular editors of ice hockey articles are focused on ice hockey when such edits are being made: as it should be. There not only is no escape clause in WP:CANVASS, but your blatant attempt at swaying advocacy above is exactly what the guideline enjoins. I strongly advise you reel in your crusade right now, the next step being an ANI filing. Ravenswing 20:13, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I am not on any crusade. I will continue to edit these pages following WP guidelines as before. My canvassing is a general one, to bring in people with general interest in the politics of this. It is also in part response to canvassing on the other side (see User_talk:18abruce#Belarussian_incidents & User_talk:Djsasso, both of these users have been prominent in the following discussions). I encourage you to file with ANI for conflict resolution. I think that's a good idea. Jabbi (talk) 20:50, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
  • No, your canvassing is not a "general one." Your language above is quite blatant in its antipathy for both Fasel and Lukachenko, and that you seek to raise consciousness for a political event. Looking at the edits for the other alleged "canvassing" shows something entirely different: those edits are very neutrally phrased as seeking comment on (unnamed) neutrality and POV issues, and one cannot tell from them what "side" the editors are on, or indeed what the issue at stake is. Ravenswing 21:02, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
This is an informal talk page, if you interpret it as me giving instructions you are entirely mistaken. I don't expect anyone that reads this to approach the matter with prejudice. WP guidelines apply of course, I am a bit surprised I am having to go through this with you. --Jabbi (talk) 21:06, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
@Jabbi: Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Lithuania The Lithuania WikiProject is dedicated to creating a comprehensive, informative, and neutral guide to Lithuania for Wikipedia readers. According to the purpose of this wikiproject, asking for input at the Lithuania project about the problems in Belarus and the depth of its specific impact on a hockey tournament definitely leans into the CANVASS territory. (It is also pretty borderline with the Latvia project as it they are only a co-host and would only be impacted if there is a decision about where the games are hosted.) It is not part of this project's particular breadth of coverage. Yosemiter (talk) 00:09, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
@Yosemiter: My aim was to involve editors with an active interest in and knowledge of politics in Belarus. As I mentioned above, I thought Belarus' and Lithuania's common past history under the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and evidenced by how pro-active Lithuanian politicians are in the matter, meant tht I might find them here. However, there is more of an enclave mentality here on the English Wikipedia than I realised. Apologies. Consider my request null & void Jabbi (talk) 10:11, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

I haven't read this long discussion, but I recommend NOT to add such kind of some-day-events (eg 2021 IIHF World Championship, 2017 IIHF World Championship, 2017 European Beach Volleyball Championship) into country project. Just a redundant clutter for countries Wikiprojects--Estopedist1 (talk) 07:59, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

I have been working on some articles about the Lithuanian government agencies/institutions, e.g. State Tax Inspectorate, Customs Department, National Audit Office, etc. I would like to add the logos/flags/insignias for these as well as some other agencies (e.g. FNTT, VSD, etc). So, couple things:

  • I believe such logos and other symbols are in the public domain as per the Article 5(3) of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights of the Republic of Lithuania (Lithuanian: Lietuvos Respublikos autorių teisių ir gretutinių teisių įstatymas). See Lithuanian text and English translation. Does anybody interpret this differently?
  • Apart from going through the web sites of each agency trying to find SVG or decent quality images, does anybody know a better source of the official symbols of the government institutions?
  • Any volunteers to upload such images? :)

Thanks -- Mindaur (talk) 21:48, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Turns out we already have a public domain template for such logos PD-LT-except. Just need to figure out how to use it.. Mindaur (talk) 18:17, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Bitė company's 'art projects'

Days ago, some user edited the Bitė Group article, adding the group's history and its art projects, presumably machine translated from Ukrainian WP. I thought the revisions broke the manual of style so I reverted them, but I added the history part back later with some additional sources. However, I have no idea how to elaborate on the company's 'art projects' with plenty of reliable sources to back up, especially when there's a lack of sources in English and I'm totally not fluent in Lithuanian. I managed to figure out the native Lithuanian names of the projects (Bitės meno erdvės and Lietuva Tavo Delne), but that's it. So I need help from some Lithuanian speakers. User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Order of the Cross of Vytis and lt.wiki

The en.wiki article has links through Wikidata to articles in several other wikis but not lt.wiki, with Wikidata Q1507943, created 2017. The lt.wiki article is |Vyčio Kryžiaus ordino Didysis kryžius and has a separate Wikidata entry Q23775638, created 2016. (Higher number, earlier creation? I find Wikidata confusing.) I don't read Lithuanian. Is the lt.wiki article really about only the "Grand Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis " as Wikidata says, while the others are about the whole order? Is there a lt.wiki article about the order? Can they be connected? Over to some Wikidatasavvy Lithuanian-reader to sort this out, please! PamD 11:43, 3 July 2022 (UTC)

PamD, with the aid of automatic translation it seems that in lt Wikipedia there are articles for
Grand Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis
Officer's Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis
Commander's Grand Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis
Commander's Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis
Knight's Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis
Medal of the Order of the Cross of Vytis
Flag of the Order of the Cross of Vytis
but Order of the Cross of Vytis is a redirect to Grand Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis.
So Wikidata is correct, but a possible solution would be for a Lithuanian editor to write an article about the Order of the Cross of Vytis. TSventon (talk) 13:08, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
PamD, Another possibility would be to add a local link to lt Wikipedia, see Help:Interlanguage links#Local links. TSventon (talk) 09:00, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

Gediminas NPOV dispute

I've recently edited some language in Gediminas to make it more WP:NPOV, and I recently posted a discussion comment on Talk:Gediminas about it. I'm thinking of perhaps getting rid of the NPOV dispute template if the article is sufficiently WP:NPOV at this point. I think you may be interested in this discussion as Gediminas is a Top-importance article in Wikipedia:WikiProject Lithuania.

Can you please review my comment on Talk:Gediminas (and examine the diffs I posted there) so we can determine whether or not to remove the NPOV dispute template?

Project-independent quality assessments

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Flag of Svencionys

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File%3AFlag_of_%C5%A0ven%C4%8Dionys.jpg

I think this file might potentially be a hoax - the only place where I can find it is https://www.fotw.info/flags/lt-vlsvv.html (which is a self published source). There's also a little bit of the flag shown in [8]. The depiction in the photo shows that the flag might be legit but then again the flag is barely shown on said photo. Women in Green's 5th Edit-a-thon

Hello WikiProject Lithuania:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2023!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2023, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!
