The start edit

Although I am fairly new at editing in Wikipedea I feel there is a need for an organized approach to improving the articles about Iowa's cities. In my editing I have found a wide variety of Iowa article levels, from some very nicely developed articles to one that was so garbled that the contents box for the article was inside the cities info box.It took a while to fix but I did. So far I have learned that the various state Wikiprojects also have different levels of article development. Although I have not looked at a lot of states, so far I have found Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Cities has the best developed program,

I hope that we can get enough Iowan's to help so we can get all cities even the smaller ones up to a satisfactory level. I developed Iowa's smallest populated city (11 people @ 2000 census) Beaconsfield, Iowa to a somewhat sastifactory level. I feel we need to start with the 60 biggest cities first and move on down to the smaller ones. I have randomly checked article traffic patterns and even the smallest town like Beaconsfield get 150 or more hits per month. My town of Hiawatha, Iowa averaged 12 hits per day before the Salvatore Giunta story broke then the hits went to 1,400 in one day. Of course the bigger cities get more hits.--RifeIdeas Talk 06:40, 10 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Priority outline edit

I have set up the priority outline below for discussion.
using Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline as a basis.

I made this priority outline after gaining experience from editing many cities, I wanted a discussion about the outline before it was put on the main community page. Before anyone makes any major changes to the priorities that are outlined I prefer to see consensus reached. Feel free to add examples, how, why, and any explanation language. --RifeIdeas Talk 06:40, 10 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have since started a new page for the discussion of this subject take a look here as the basic structure has not changed, but more improvements have already been included. See:

I will be deleting the above example soon--RifeIdeas Talk 23:29, 10 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

The new page is completed and ready for discussion and improvement.
I have deleted the outline on this page.--RifeIdeas Talk 00:20, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Communities Division Barnstar edit

I propose using the Iowa Barnstar and adding a banner ring (possibly using color #f0ffff) going inside the points of the star. The banner would say "Communities" on the top half of the ring and "Division" on the bottom half of the ring. If needed the Iowa flag could be made a little smaller. --RifeIdeas Talk 18:46, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
