type:glacier added for glacier coordinatesEdit

Following WT:GEO#type:waterbody for rivers, glaciers, WP:GEO#type:T now includes "type:glacier" instead of "type:waterbody" for glaciers. "type:waterbody" is mainly used for lakes. Some of the glaciers were using "type:landmark". Coordinates will be updated to include this. Sample coordinates:

{{coor at dms|46|26|32|N|8|04|38|E|region:CH-VS_type:glacier}}

which would render on Aletsch Glacier as:

46°26′32″N 8°04′38″E / 46.44222°N 8.07722°E / 46.44222; 8.07722 (Aletsch Glacier)

and display coordinates on the top corner of the page. -- User:Docu

Article alertsEdit

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

CirqueEdit

This article has me scratching my head for a couple of reasons. What's the scope of the article, the glacial landform, or the French term? And is it a "vital" article, or a "low-importance" one -- or somehow both? Thanks in advance for any assistance. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 15:19, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

It should be about the landform. It is a low "importance" article according to several projects but for Wikipedia in general a level-5 vital article in Science, Earth science.--MONGO (talk) 20:16, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
That was my view on the scope, though I was rather hoping for input at (or indeed in) the article rather than just a binary flag here. Albeit I neglected to say so in terms.
On the low-importance vitalness, you're restating the status quo, without really explaining it, I think. Just a difference of opinion between the WPJs and WPiG? A case of falling between three stools? 109.255.211.6 (talk) 20:49, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
The cirque article is clearly about the glacial landform. Volcanoguy 18:50, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Level-5 vital is not really vital at all, but it might have been more than low-importance for some project. Normally if I myself have heard of a topic from outside my research it should at least be a mid importance, as there are millions of topics that I have never heard of before.
