Hello! edit

Hello, I just joined this task force today, thanks for the invite! I can help in creating new articles on latest books and expansion. Thanks, King Prithviraj II (talk) 13:16, 13 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress edit

Hello, all. There is a discussion in progress at Talk:The Red Pyramid (novel)#Requested move 18 November 2017 about changing the name of The Red Pyramid (novel) to just "The Red Pyramid", as it is believed that this name is different enough to distinguish our page from the page Red Pyramid. Your input is welcome and appreciated on that page. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 04:32, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Re-introducing Member Roles edit

The Rick Riordan Task Force HR Department is once again proud to advertise for Member Roles, a part of our Outreach Program! These roles are an excellent way to let the other members know about your skills and specialties, or to take a position of leadership in the project. They are open to all RRTF members. Please see the new "/Roles" page for more info and to sign up!

Criticism, comments, and suggestions are welcome below. Especially let us know if you'd like Roles for proofreaders or Trials of Apollo experts, as there aren't any specific titles for these types of editors. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 05:45, 20 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Anyone know if this stuff is true? edit

Saw some edits on Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, anyone know if the added info is correct? Check these please. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 03:00, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I read The Ship of the Dead; it is true, although the 'Big Banana' part looks like vandalism at first sight (It is real, tho). Thanks, King Prithviraj II (talk) 14:40, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info, and also for taking care of the article. 'Preciate it. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 19:21, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Ship of the Dead deletion nomination edit

The Ship of the Dead just got nominated for speedy deletion because another editor has tagged it as a copyright violation. I personally am not contesting the deletion because, if it really is copy-pasted from another source, then the whole page has to be scrapped and restarted. As it is, it's only got one reference anyway along with a whole host of other problems. If it goes, we'll write up a new draft and send it through AfC. However, if anybody here wants to take on the task of rewriting the current page to save it from deletion, go for it. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 21:12, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

MPS1992 adjusted the article and I improved it a bit.I believe it can be kept, but it's necessary rewrite the plot section. Pedrohoneto (talk) 00:56, 6 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Draft:The Hammer of Thor up for AfC review edit

Draft:The Hammer of Thor was just submitted for WP:AfC review. Go check it out and see if you can find any improvements to be made. Fingers crossed that we have a new mainspace article soon! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 01:57, 7 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

@2ReinreB2 and King Prithviraj II: Congrats. The article looks great. I think you can candidate it to GA. Pedrohoneto (talk) 15:08, 7 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
That's great news! We need to get that 5% in check before nominating tho. King Prithviraj II (talk) 15:56, 7 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
The 5% stuff is just because I'm the only editor to have really worked on it recently, so it's possible a second pair of eyes may catch something. Once others've given it a look over, it should be a great GA candidate. Thanks for checking it over. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 04:31, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
I requested a copy-edit for the article. Now is just wait. Pedrohoneto (talk) 15:09, 10 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
@2ReinreB2 and King Prithviraj II: Now that the copy-edit has been made, I think we can nominate the article for GA. Pedrohoneto (talk) 15:21, 22 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
So.. when are we going to nominate it? King Prithviraj II (talk) 15:36, 22 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Whoever has free time coming up should nominate it. You can never tell when a page will start being reviewed, but sometimes it happens right away. We'll all help out, but the reviewer will communicate mostly with the initial nominator. If you've got the time, take the initiative! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 00:33, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've already nominate it. I'm always here though not always editing. Pedro H. (talk) 19:14, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Hammer of Thor edit

As most of you will know from having read my previous post^, Draft:The Hammer of Thor just got accepted as a mainspace article. This means that it's a candidate for a Did you know? post on the Main Page. Anybody got suggestions for a suitable "hook"? The requirements are here. We've got 7 days from today to nominate a hook, so I will take the best one we can pick here on January 12 and get the process started. List your ideas and vote for the best below. I put up what I could think of, but I think we could do better. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk)

Did you know...

  1. ...The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan won a Stonewall Book Award for its portrayal of the genderfluid character Alex Fierro?
Supported by: (King Prithviraj II, Pedrohoneto (talk))
  2. ...The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan takes place in the author's new hometown of Boston, Massachusetts?
    Supported by: (usernames)
  3. ...The Hammer of Thor has been translated into over a dozen languages form its original English?
    Supported by: (usernames)

Nominated the first one. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 02:37, 12 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's been accepted! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 02:42, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

The page was a DYK on January 19. It usually averages around 100 views a day, but on the 19th it got over 3,800! (ref) Thanks to everybody who helped out. We need to do this more often! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 20:27, 20 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

January 2018 Roll Call edit

Does somebody want to put this up? I saw the message, went to respond and didn't see anything.Methychroma (talk) 10:17, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Methychroma: - I think there's an error on the template of your talk page. The roll-call was back in August. I can fix the template, if you'd like. You're not the only person who's had this problem. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 21:45, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Okay.Methychroma (talk) 00:40, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Merge candidates edit

Hi Friends. In picking up Hammer of Thor for GA review I saw that it didn't have a Wikipedia:WikiProject Children's literature tag. I thus went through and tagged articles as appropriate with that tag. Doing this quickly it seems like some articles might be good candidates for WP:Merge and so just wanted to introduce myself to the project before you see several such tags from me. Barkeep49 (talk) 17:46, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Barkeep49: - Hey, there, thanks for the intro. Can you let us know what those articles are? We may be able to get a jump on addressing some of their issues. Thanks! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 21:20, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@2ReinreB2: I tagged through in a storm while sitting in a meeting so the individual pages didn't stick with me. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 21:22, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
So in doing a more thorough look it's my feeling that Alex Fierro and Carter Kane should be merged into the series pages given WP:BKD. Welcome discussion here before I place the merge tags on the articles. Barkeep49 (talk) 16:57, 5 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Hammer of Thor up for GA edit

The Hammer of Thor is currently up for GA review. If you've got a chance, head on by and look it over. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 21:10, 4 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Forgot to update this: It passed a while ago. Congratulations! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 18:37, 22 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Rick Riordan Presents edit

Recently, a novel titled Aru Shah and the End of Time was published by Rick Riordan Presents. Riordan served as the presenter, editor and also wrote the first 2 chapters. Is it a part of our task force? King Prithviraj II (talk) 12:16, 7 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@King Prithviraj II: - Rick Riordan Presents certainly is, and I hope to create a page for that sometime. I don't know about the individual books though. You should start a discussion. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 18:39, 22 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Burning Maze edit

It might be too quick, but someone just created a draft for the article. Just notifying, so that we can work on the draft and submit it for creation and GA. King Prithviraj II (talk) 13:59, 3 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

It feels like there's an article that establishes notability and could be published now. Would suggest saving the links for further content development somewhere and moving it out of draft space (or I would be happy to do so, if needed) and then continuing to improve. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 14:49, 4 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Collaborations and general announcements edit

If you're looking for something to work on this summer, I just updated the Top 10 candidates for collaboration and added them all to Category:Rick Riordan task force collaborations. I base this list both on what our readers are most interested in (with a pageviews counter [1]) and on what our editors have been working on. Feel free to update it as you need. Definitely check out this list (or our regular to-do list).

Please also keep in mind that we will be starting a new edit-a-thon during June/July (details to be announced). There may be a prize! (I welcome suggestions.) Finally, remember to check in sometime during August or September for our annual roll-call. We are a small task force and it is important that we always keep recruiting and finding ways to engage our members. Don't forget about Member roles!

Finally, a big shout-out to users King Prithviraj II and Barkeep49, who've been very active lately. It's always great to see familiar names popping up on my watchlist. Keep up the good work, all! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 18:37, 22 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Library Card edit

Have trouble accessing reviews published in journals like Booklist, The Horn Book, and Publishers Weekly? Consider signing up for Wikipedia Library Access. (Info on eligibility here.) This free service helps editors get access to references and material that normally require a subscription. Check it out! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 03:01, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Second annual Edit-A-Thon edit

Announcing RRTF's second annual Edit-A-Thon! The event is being held June 23 through July 28 in honor of author Rick Riordan's June birthday and author/illustrator John Rocco's July birthday. The focus of the edit-a-thon will be on expanding Wikipedia's coverage of these two authors in an encyclopedic manner.

Prizes will be given for first, second, and third place and will consist of a barnstar and Amazon gift card. To enter, please visit this page. The winners will be announced by July 31.

More information on rules and scoring can also be found on the contest page. Questions about the subject material should be left on the RRTF forums. Questions about the contest should be left on the contest Q&A. Good luck and happy editing! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 22:34, 23 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

"Viria" artwork now licensed by Riordan edit

Hey all. Writing with some exciting news: Some of you may be aware of the Percy Jackson fan artist "Viria" (some art), widely regarded by fans of the series as both a good artist and accurate to character descriptions. We here at RRTF have often fielded questions about why we can't use her art for character bios. The answer has always been that it is not "official" (as well as various copyright issues).

That answer now has to change. The character bios on Rick Riordan's website - example: Percy Jackson - now contain Viria (real name Viktoria Ridzel) art, licensed for use there by Riordan (and presumably, his publishers). This means Viria artwork is now an official representation of several Riordan characters.

The question now becomes: Do we use this artwork in character bios/book pages? Questions about how to handle copyright can come later (i.e. please do not post anything new yet), but we now have the opportunity to decide if Viria's work should be included on Riordan pages here on Wikipedia. I leave it up to you, the foremost authority on Riordan's works here on the wiki. Please share your thoughts below, and happy holidays. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 23:31, 22 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Has an attempt been made to ask Ridzel directly to license some of the portraits under CC-BY-SA? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 00:11, 23 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
No, but if we decide to use the artwork, I guess that's step one. The current artwork we have is all used through WP:FAIR because it was done by Disney's illustrators, and as such there can only be one file per page. That's caused issues in the past. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 23:49, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool edit

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
