October 2023 blitz edit

Baffle gab has started the October blitz page. The 15th to the 21st seems the likeliest week to hold it. One unfinished July June (now declined) 2023 request remains, with 11 from August (3 being worked on) and 29 from September (2 on hold). The backlog stands at 10 from September 2022, and 167 from October of that year. Dhtwiki (talk) 03:28, 9 October 2023 (UTC) (edited 23:49, 10 October 2023 (UTC))Reply

Works for me. Thanks both and all the best, Miniapolis 20:46, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have finished setting up the blitz page, adjusted relevant pointers, and made appropriate announcements. Dhtwiki (talk) 20:11, 10 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Barnstars edit

I have completed the barnstar table. Dhtwiki (talk) 21:31, 23 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

... and they've been given out. All the best, Miniapolis 13:15, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

November 2023 drive edit

November starts next Wednesday. Baffle gab (as per usual) has already started the November drive page. The backlog stands at 1 September 2022 article (a >18k-word article on Amazon), 148 October 2022 articles, and 91 November 2022 articles. As far as requests, I should have completed the last August 2023 request by next week. There are 26 for September, with 2 on hold, and 1 otherwise in question. October has 24 so far, with two being worked on (by the same editor) and a couple of others with commentary that seems to call into question some copy editing without actually precluding the need for it. The months already named should be enough for the November drive. What say you all? Dhtwiki (talk) 00:46, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

IMO, the September and October 2022 backlogs and September requests should be enough to start. All the best, Miniapolis 01:39, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
... but since Baffle already listed the goals on the drive page, they're fine with me. Miniapolis 01:42, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I didn't see that it had already been set up that way. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:09, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I guessed at the possible dates after seeing what is available; do alter it if you wish. I usually set them up with xxx placeholders but those seem to get missed sometimes. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 07:11, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think we're all in agreement on what is enough. Dhtwiki (talk) 00:00, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
All looks good to me. Zippybonzo | talk | contribs (he|she|they) 07:42, 27 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
The barnstar table is up and ready for distribution; thanks, Baffle, for creating the page. All the best, Miniapolis 16:51, 6 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for completing the table. I've handed the barnstars out, except for my own. Dhtwiki (talk) 10:26, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Review help requirements edit

I just wanted to ask this quick question before signing up, do I need to have specific user rights to sign up? I made this account only a few hours ago, but I am very experienced on the Minecraft Wiki, making over 300 edits in under a month. Am I allowed to sign up for review help? Wolf (talk | contribs) 19:41, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Welcome, ItsTHEwolfTime! Feel free to sign up for the drive, but please hold off on reviewing until you have some copyediting experience here; copyediting and reviewing others' copyedits are two different things. Thanks in advance for your help and all the best, Miniapolis 22:29, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

December nl and Annual Report edit

Hi coordinators; I've been working on the December newsletter and the Annual Report, mostly adding stats etc; feel free to add, correct and remove stuff as needed. Courtesy pinging @Zippybonzo:, since you previously said you were interested in this stuff. The December election page is also ready. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 21:27, 12 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I will definitely be able to take a knock at the December newsletter because I do have some skill in newsletters. Zippybonzo | talk | contribs (he|she|they) 21:35, 12 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Zippy, this should probably be sent out early in the month due to the election. I can send you the Requests spreadsheet by return email if you need it. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 06:00, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I do love a good spreadsheet, feel free to send it over and I'll work on adding it to the report :) Zippybonzo | talk | contribs (he|she|they) 21:00, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
No worries; if you want to send me a quick email via Wikipedia, I can send it as an attachment. I'll BCC an updated version to Dhtwiki as well. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 00:34, 16 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, Baffle, for starting to set things up. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:41, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
No probs; I've just added the Nov drive stats to the newsletter. All it needs now is the Dec blitz dates and a final Progress Report update, and it's good to go. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 05:51, 8 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I did a tiny bit of cleanup on the December newsletter, mostly date formatting consistency and a few style choices. It looks ready to me. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:48, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Jonesey, and everyone else; it's   Done. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 20:55, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

December 2023 blitz edit

I've set up the December blitz page, with the preliminary theme of September (there is one article now, when it had been empty) to November 2022 backlog, as well as all requests. We have the 10th to the 16th and the 17th to the 23rd as likely weeks for the blitz. The former slot requires quickly getting everything set; the latter week brings us close to Christmas. Dhtwiki (talk) 09:15, 8 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks; I prefer the earlier week. All the best, Miniapolis 16:01, 8 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Unless anyone objects, I'll set up the page for the 10th to the 16th and tweak the ombox. All the best, Miniapolis 18:14, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Miniapolis, I can get the newsletter done and out, unless anyone else wants to do it. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 21:53, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, Baffle. I'm working on a long request, and hope to participate in the blitz when it's done. All the best, Miniapolis 22:49, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Looks good to me (emeritus coord). I know there are non-Xmas holidays happening right now, but staying farther away from Xmas week is generally better. It looks like the blitz starts in about half an hour, if I have my math right. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:31, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've made the announcement at the Wikipedia:Community bulletin board. I'm also in the middle of a long copy edit. Shouldn't the newsletter come out after the blitz, to include December totals, as well as there being plenty of time with the earlier blitz start? Dhtwiki (talk) 00:08, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
It needs to announce the election noms, so I'd like to get it done today (10th GMT). And there's already three months of stats (Sept, Oct and Nov) ready. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:47, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, we certainly could use a reminder that it's time for people to volunteer as coordinators, if that's what you mean to do. Dhtwiki (talk) 05:00, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Barnstars edit

The barnstar table is made out. Dhtwiki (talk) 01:24, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

... and they've been given out. Thanks and all the best, Miniapolis 02:46, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Many new additions to the backlog edit

Many articles tagged with the {{Repetition}} template, going back to June 2010, are now included on the backlog. When did this happen? Dhtwiki (talk) 00:08, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

From the template's history, I see @Pppery: (courtesy ping) added the template's includes to the c/e backlog here and removed them from Category:Wikipedia articles with style issues. There's no discussion on the template's talk page. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 03:01, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
The template explicitly says "Please help copyedit the article", so I figured it would be uncontroversial. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:01, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Pppery, this was IMO reasonable, and there are only 85 tagged articles, so it should be fine. The only housekeeping bit is that we work hard at the GOCE to keep our backlog reasonably short (we had it down to a couple of months a few years ago), so the sudden appearance of a few dozen old articles in our list makes the backlog look unusual. Coordinators: I think overall this change is reasonable, and we could add these articles to the bonus list for January and knock them out without any trouble. I am open to other opinions. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:06, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've made the same change to {{Repetition inline}} and {{Repetition section}} (30 transclusions each) for consistency, and we should consider doing the same for {{Verbosity}} (30 transclusions), which is redundant to {{Repetition}}. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:14, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Repetition and verbosity do not equal lack of clarity, and it's the latter situation, where people have really made a hash of the language, that deserves our attention. The article with the earliest dated tag added to the list, Niagara Falls Museum, doesn't suffer from being unclear. We're so far behind from where we were in the recent past that I question the addition of so many articles. Keep the possibility of adding such articles on the back burner, so to speak, for when we do catch up and are looking for things to do. Dhtwiki (talk) 04:54, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Dhtwiki; I'd say repetition and verbosity do impair clarity in a text. @Pppery:, maybe even consider whether we need many of those granular templates at all; they could be redirected to {{copyedit}} and {{copyedit inline}}, or deleted. Both of those major templates have "for=" / "reason=" parameters for specific issues. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 23:05, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Pppery, I agree with Jonesey that this is annoying but doable, although the GOCE has been understaffed for some time. I also agree with Baffle that the repetition and verbosity tags need to be redirected to the copyedit tags; otherwise, it's too difficult to find the section (or sentence) that needs copyediting. Miniapolis 18:36, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have redirected {{verbosity}} to {{copyedit}}. Anyone who wishes to do the same with {{repetition}}/{{repetition section}}/{{repetition inline}} is welcome to. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:16, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

() Done. All the best, Miniapolis 02:24, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

January drive edit

It's that time again. Howzabout the backlog through November 2022 (which includes all those pesky months) and October and November 2023 requests? All the best, Miniapolis 23:11, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

There are by my count 58 articles from the 40 "pesky months" from March 2016 to September 2022 (somewhat reduced, it seems, from once having started in June 2010), plus 37 from October 2022 and 38 from November of that year. So, that seems reasonable in terms of numbers. Dhtwiki (talk) 00:57, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
The drive page is here with XXX placeholders in place of variables and TBC in place of coordinators' names. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 03:02, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for starting the page. We should remember to mention the new templates that we've taken under our wing, lest editors become confused when the regular copy edit template isn't present at the older articles. Dhtwiki (talk) 08:53, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Dhtwiki, the templates now redirect to {{Copy edit}}; the old tags ({{Repetition}} and what-not) appear only in the source code, and I've been working on the pesky months. All the best, Miniapolis 20:25, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I will mention the "new" templates in the annual report; the sudden jump will look odd. Have updated the table params, coordinators can be added post-election. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 00:50, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Adding December 2022 edit

The through–November 2022 backlog is down to 15 articles, with 11 days remaining in the drive. We should think about adding December 2022, which has 101 articles, as a bonus month. Dhtwiki (talk) 00:11, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good idea. All the best, Miniapolis 00:27, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

January barnstars edit

The barnstar page is done, with a link to the barnstars and leaderboard awards; thanks, Baffle, for creating the page. All the best, Miniapolis 19:44, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Miniapolis: The barnstar entries aren't in accordance with the January signup order, nor are the word totals tallying with many of those at the signup page's individual entries (the leaderboard seems to be in better shape). Dhtwiki (talk) 23:16, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Dunno, Dhtwiki; I compiled the input file, ran the script, and this is what I got. There was a lot of confusion about the individual entries; editors are copyediting sections of articles, and apparently expecting full credit. You're welcome to redo the table if you want. Miniapolis 23:26, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
If it's not some simply-found hiccup, then I will have to hand calculate. Too many numbers are too far off. And I was so happy at the stars being calculated so soon. I don't think that people claiming more words than they should is something that the script can detect. I sometimes have edited an entire article, when only one section was marked for copy edit, and claimed the article, not section, word count. Although I don't remember doing it for this drive, I think that practice is allowed. Dhtwiki (talk) 23:49, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seconding Dhtwiki, there's something wrong with the tallies. (I calculated my total as 10285, but it's listed as 7624. I included a section copy edit, only counting the parts I had addressed.) Wracking talk! 00:12, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Aha! My total for the November drive was 7624. Maybe try re-running the script and ensuring the correct month is selected? Wracking talk! 00:15, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wracking, you're right and I'm sorry. I saved the input file with the same name as November's (GOCE-input.txt), thinking it would overwrite the old file, and will redo it after deleting the file. That being said, I'll be delighted to not be the only person who does this; we all have the script, but I seem to be the only person who actually runs it. Life is too short, IMO, to do this by hand. All the best, Miniapolis 01:14, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

() Mystery solved (not fixed yet); I should've smelled a rat when the table generated seamlessly. I saved the January file in the wrong place, found it and am trying to figure out – as always – why the table's hanging up. This is not as easy at it looks. All the best, Miniapolis 01:25, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Spinney Hill and Jonesey95 both took credit for Piri, I think. Jonesey, would you please take a look at Spinney Hill's entry and see if there are any hidden characters or what-not? I'm not seeing anything, but the script stopped there; they inserted extra brackets, which I thought I removed. All the best, Miniapolis 01:32, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Fixed, I think, after I found the pair of missing parentheses. A bit more care by drive participants would help; there was more cruft this time than usual. All the best, Miniapolis 01:52, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for all your hard work!!! Wracking talk! 02:13, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, thank you, Miniapolis, for your hard work, and Wracking, for your attentiveness. I do have the script, but it doesn't run on my Apple computer, and I still haven't created my own (and I've even been looking into restoring my Windows computer, which should run the script natively). However long it takes, I can always do the calculations by hand, but it is exhausting (I still calculate the blitz barnstars by hand (i.e. a calculator app), where there are fewer entrants and simpler calculations). Dhtwiki (talk) 06:42, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
By the way, a copy of the script resides here, in case anyone who doesn't have the script cares to take a look. The Python script at the bottom is not part of the script proper and does not work for me. I think it relies on proprietary software that may be behind a paywall. Dhtwiki (talk) 07:58, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've now distributed all the barnstars, except for my own. Dhtwiki (talk) 03:52, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Coordinator monthly and annual tasks edit

This is your periodic reminder, possibly a new one for newer coordinators, that Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators/Task list exists. I overhauled it in 2016 for my own sanity and checked it monthly when I was a (more active) coordinator.

On a side note, I just updated File:Copyeditors progress.png. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:36, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the reminder. I know that there are things to do, such as finalizing the coordinator elections. And thank you for updating the progress chart, even though the trend is disappointing. How is the chart maintained/generated? Could/should we have the underlying data made available here, so that anyone can maintain it? Dhtwiki (talk) 07:59, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I copy the data from our main page into an Excel spreadsheet about once or twice a year. We could maintain it here if graphing were working. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:47, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I finalized and updated the election and coordinator pages, and was reminded why I don't check the task list :-). It's overwhelming for the number of warm bodies we have here, IMO, and I'd have no time for copyediting if I tried to keep up with it; I think it needs to be streamlined further. All the best, Miniapolis 21:20, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for sharing! I reorganized the end of the list to be in chronological order by month (feel free to revert if unhelpful). As I'm the new one in town, I think I may have to defer to others on what can be streamlined. Wracking talk! 05:55, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

() Is it advantageous to do this one? (After the February blitz:) Merge the quarterly tables in the previous year's Requests page into a single table for better sorting. Sort each column to check dates for typos. If there are more advantages to leaving the data in quarters (section editing, quicker loading for slower browsers, etc) than disadvantages (in-browser data sorting, possible missing of editing patterns, etc), maybe it could be removed from the task list. Removing section headers from tables copied into spreadsheets (as I do) is trivial. And I find copying over a single quarter's data easier than copying the whole page. If it's more useful, I can merge on-wiki archives from the past few years. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 23:45, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm leaning skip/remove from list of tasks. As you note, removing the headers in exporting is a trivial task. Most of the meaningful interpretation of the data will happen off-wiki anyway, so in-browser sorting is a minor concern for me. Wracking talk! 02:39, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Wracking that it should be removed from the task list; we have enough to do as it is. All the best, Miniapolis 14:37, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agree, especially since it's Baffle who has been doing the most work with the old data, in terms of statistical analysis for the annual report. Dhtwiki (talk) 04:09, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Annual Report is almost ready edit

Hi Coordinators; I've completed adding stats to the Annual Report. Feel free to check stats (there's probably an error somewhere!), add, replace, fix or remove stuff (I need to remove hidden notes from the code). As Lead Coordinator, @Dhtwiki: is invited to write a closing piece; please let me know if you don't want to and I'll remove that section. The topsheet is here; I'll complete it tonight. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 11:36, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ready for delivery? edit

I've made some final edits to the 2023 annual report, in preparation for its top sheet being sent. See if there's more that needs doing.

I've filled out the parameters at Special:MassMessage and the preview looks good, with the following parameters:

  • Page or category containing list of pages to leave a message on:
    • Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Mailing_List ["Your message will be sent to 765 pages."; so, no filtering of intro material at that page needed, apparently]
  • Subject of the message (also used as the edit summary):
    • Guild of Copy Editors 2023 Annual Report
  • Page to be sent as a message:
    • Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Membership/News/2023 Annual Report topsheet

With the rest of the parameters left blank.

The hidden comment reads: <!-- Message sent by User:Dhtwiki@enwiki using the list at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Mailing_List&oldid=1213784840 -->

Does everything look good to go? If so, I'll send it by the 16th, hopefully (the last annual report was dated 2/6/23!). Dhtwiki (talk) 23:11, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

It looks good, and thanks. All the best, Miniapolis 23:40, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

February 2024 blitz edit

I've set up the page for the February 2024 blitz. I've set it to start on the 11th and end on the 17th. I've included November (3) and December 2022 (77) articles. The requests stand at 1 from October 2023 (being worked on?), 17 from November 2023 (1 being worked on), 19 from December 2023, 26 from January 2024, and 8, so far, from this month. March 2024 drive edit

I've started setting up the March drive page. I've selected December 2022 through February 2023 (66, 102, 100 articles, respectively) for the backlog and November 2023 through February 2024 (2, 18, 23, 20) for requests (leaving aside the unfinished October article, which we should be sure to finish by then, as well as two November ones that are already in the hands of experienced copy editors). Dhtwiki (talk) 07:56, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

March 2024 barnstars edit

The barnstar page is done and ready for distribution; thanks, Baffle, for setting it up. All the best, Miniapolis 17:03, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

No worries; sorry I didn't get around to completing the data entry, my wiki-head has been elsewhere. Best wishes and cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:26, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've distributed the barnstars, except for mine and those for User:Learnerktm, which should be discussed, as they did considerabl work on Italy, a very long article, but not all edits were helpful, and their copy edit can't be considered complete (I've taken the article as a request and have found lots to do). They have claimed leaderboard barnstars, but there is no credit taken in the signup section. How should credit be given here? Dhtwiki (talk) 09:17, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Don't get me started about copyediting quality; a number of editors seem to go for the barnstars. However, Learnerktm listed their copyedit in the signup section. When I got started here, I cut my teeth on a long request article (as we encourage new copyeditors not to do) and it turned out all right. Assuming good faith, as I think we can do here, we shouldn't make the perfect the enemy of the good. I'll do yours but will hold off on Learnerktm, although it seems to be between you and me   All the best, Miniapolis 23:37, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to AGF and give Learnerktm the barnstars claimed, with the hope that he takes on board the advice received. All the best, Miniapolis 13:28, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
On second thought, and since the article is still on the requests page, I've changed my mind. Miniapolis 13:38, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I am thinking that 1/4 credit (i.e. ~5k words) (and probably no leaderboard barnstars) would be appropriate for the work done. Dhtwiki (talk) 05:48, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have completed my calculations and handed out the appropriate barnstars. Dhtwiki (talk) 09:36, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

March April newsletter edit

Hi all, I've taken the liberty of starting a newsletter for March here. Feel free to add / remove / fix anything, I'll be filling out the stats over the next few days. i haven't gathered any request page stats since January so I need to do some catching up! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 07:32, 16 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Since it's so close to the end of the month, and with the annual report top sheet having been sent out so recently (on the 16th), I propose we post-date this newsletter to April and send it out then. We had an April newsletter in 2022. So, there's recent precedence. Dhtwiki (talk) 03:07, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agree. All the best, Miniapolis 17:34, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll try to complete the newsletter, to be sent out before the April blitz starts (see below). Dhtwiki (talk) 09:38, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Finishing touches are being made to the newsletter, which should go out soon. Final perusals are welcome. Dhtwiki (talk) 09:14, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Looks good to me, I've just updated the progress report and added the blitz dates. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 23:20, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for giving the blitz dates; that might be important. Sent newsletter at 23:19 UTC, and it reached my talk page almost immediately. Dhtwiki (talk) 23:24, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
No problem; and I just spotted a mistake in the election news line; too late, ever mind! :o Cheers, Baffle☿gab 00:20, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Other than the reelection of a "lead" coordinator not being mentioned (and that was somewhat deliberate for the sake of conciseness as well as modesty), I don't see the mistake regarding the coordinator election. Dhtwiki (talk) 03:21, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I'm being picky but Incumbents Dhtwiki and Miniapolis were reelected coordinators, and Wracking was newly elected coordinator, to serve through 30 June. should be: "Wracking was newly elected as a coordinator"; and I think "until" or "to" should follow "through" – it reads to me as though coordinators serve only for one day. I think that "as (a)" could be used in both clauses, but its omission doesn't destroy the sense. Using "through until/to" doesn't make clear that the 30th is included as well as does "the convenient American use...[which] is still strange to us" (per the British H. W. Fowler) of "through" by itself. Dhtwiki (talk) 04:03, 13 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Coordinators emeriti edit

@Miniapolis, Wracking, and Baffle gab1978: I would like to add Baffle gab's name to the list of coordinators emeriti for their many terms served as coordinator and for the coordinator-type work they continue to do (setting up drive and blitz pages, curating newsletters and reports, and taking good care of the requests page, above and beyond the enormous amount of copy editing they do there). Can I have your okay to do so? Dhtwiki (talk) 05:56, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dhtwiki, you have my strongest possible support! All the best, Miniapolis 13:53, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Support: Baffle's Tireless Contributor Barnstar spun off its axis long ago. Reidgreg (talk) 17:47, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, absolutely!! Wracking talk! 01:25, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks all for your support and kind words; I take a neutral stance on this and it's not something I've personally sought out or encouraged. The GOCE is a team and I'm just here to help out. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 23:43, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

April blitz edit

April 14–20 seems a likely time for the April blitz. We could include January and February 2023 from the backlog, as well as all requests. Dhtwiki (talk) 09:53, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Seeing no objection, I've set things up as proposed. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:45, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Since I've been seeing a lot of partly-done "copyedits" on the request page, I've tweaked the instructions to (hopefully) discourage them; the "first-pass" stuff doesn't do much for the backlog. All the best, Miniapolis 01:21, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
