State Highway 151 (Texas)

A map of SH 151 in Texas would be appreciated, it's a short freeway entirely within the San Antonio city limits. Thanks. --Holderca1 16:20, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Could you add shields for the Interstates and US highways? --Holderca1 16:40, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
What is the status on this request? Is it completed? Stratosphere (U T) 22:09, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Still waiting on the shields. --Holderca1 22:39, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

All right. After many attempts and such, I have uploaded a new image for SH 151 with shields, and have made it an SVG. Be forewarned that it still crashes Firefox when viewed at full size. I really don't know whether its Firefox or ArcGIS that's causing the problem. 25or6to4 07:18, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Update: After getting some information regarding all the SVG problems, I have remade this image with significantly less point data, reducing the size of the file by a factor of 10. It seems to view properly for me in Firefox now.25or6to4 14:47, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
That looks great! Good work. --Holderca1 20:32, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Seaway Trail

New article; a map would be fantastic. The routing mentioned in the article should be sufficient for making a map at the proper scale (i.e., the complicated routing through Erie, Buffalo, and Ogdensburg can probably be safely ignored), but if not, the provided links should give the necessary detail. Powers T 15:39, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps this will work? It's PNG still since SVGs are still crashing. Let me know if it needs fixing. Cheers! Stratosphere (U T) 07:11, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Looks fine to me, at least at normal resolutions. Thanks! =) Powers T 15:27, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Interstate 865

Short 3di in central Indiana. Heck, I don't think there are any other major roads along its length. —Rob (talk) 23:18, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

While I'm here, is there any chance it can be an SVG? —Rob (talk) 23:20, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Accepted. Will be in SVG. V60 VTalk - VDemolitions 04:59, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Any idea on when the maps (I-474, I-865) will be complete? Thanks! —Rob (talk) 18:05, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Here is a map of I-865 for you. I did it in SVG per your request so you can stick shields on if you'd like. It will crash in Firefox when viewed full size. Cheers! Stratosphere (U T) 07:22, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
That's a strange bug indeed... it works in OS X too. Thanks! —Rob (talk) 04:25, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Interstate 474

Short southern loop of Interstate 74 around Peoria, Illinois. SVG preferred. Thanks in advance! —Rob (talk) 22:35, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Accepted. V60 VTalk - VDemolitions 05:00, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Do you want the map with or without shields? I'm asking since this would be a very small map, and some shields would help identify routes. V60 VTalk - VDemolitions 22:13, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Completed with shields version.   V60 VTalk - VDemolitions 23:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
In an ideal world, it should be without shields (since the map should be able to be used elsewhere at any size) but there should be a smaller large scale map that doesn't overlay any major routes with a box that is used to indicate where in Illinois the Interstate is. In other words, like road atlas where there's a detailed map off to the side, but there's a box showing what is being detailed on the general map. Except here, the smaller map is the general map, and the detailed map is the larger. Yes, I wish I could find an example. :-) —Rob (talk) 03:15, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

This is the request page for the Maps task force of the U.S. Roads WikiProject. I think you may be looking for Wikipedia:WikiProject Maps; they should be able to help you with more general-purpose mapping requests. Powers T 16:50, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
This is the right place. US Roads WP is the parent project of US Routes and Interstates. If no one else accepts the request in the next day or so, I may have time to get it made. Stratosphere (U T) 22:18, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
I believe Powers' comment was addressed at the lactose intolerance section above, but it got separated due to the editor who requested the I-476 map not following the directions on top of the page. I've been working on the Interstate 476 article to hopefully get it up to good article status, and I'd like to second the map request, it's a long, major route through eastern PA and could definitely benefit from a map illustrating the route. The map is as clean as it can get. O2 () 01:05, 15 October 2007 (GMT)
Not really, it's using the wrong colors and it should mention some cities/counties on it. It should look more like the PA Route 33 map. -- JA10 TalkContribs 01:08, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
That requires manually adding the text in, as GIS isn't that advanced yet. A bunch of county borders only really clutters the map. O2 () 01:37, 15 October 2007 (GMT)
That included shields as well. And if you want to complain more about the quality of the map, take it to the qgis developers; it's their fault that the lines are so thick. O2 () 01:38, 15 October 2007 (GMT)
I'm sure I can get feedback from other MTF members that can make the map. The new PA 222 map came out fine, explain how this new one will be any different? -- JA10 TalkContribs 01:43, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
That's because it was created using a different program (ArcGIS). That program requires buying it at a great profit, and the only free alternative that actually works is qgis. It's not my fault qgis is like this. O2 () 01:50, 15 October 2007 (GMT)
  • I understand that, but if this "ugly" map was not helpful, why upload it? Please understand that if the product isn't working then don't use it. We need readers to get a good impression on our work. -- JA10 TalkContribs 01:53, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
    • It is not ugly. Also, that previous comment was not assuming good faith. I remember you even trying to create a map unsuccessfully, so why are you complaining when you can't even create one in the first place? O2 () 02:05, 15 October 2007 (GMT)
      • I am sorry if my comment offended your work. But my intension was to get a better map to improve the quality of the Route 191 article, not cause an argument like this. -- JA10 TalkContribs 02:11, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
        • Well, unfortunately it did. The master of maps has suddenly disappeared, and the other one did as well. The quality of the map isn't that important for GA; it's only important for FA, for which this article might not get to. O2 () 02:18, 15 October 2007 (GMT)
          • Hey all. Sorry I'm late. What did I miss? Here's another version of the map: image:PA-191_map.svg. I think the original map is fine, given the limited resources. I just looked at the maps of other members using qgis, and a few of the maps seem to have varying thickness lines. You might ask one of them how they got around it. 25or6to4 07:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
            • The varying thickness lines is caused by using the print function to make the map compliant with the 290 x 172 ratio. If print isn't used, the lines are thin. O2 () 22:27, 18 October 2007 (GMT)
