About the project

WikiProject Illyria is the WikiProject dedicated to the creation, expansion and maintenance of Wikipedia's coverage related to Illyria, Illyrians and their cultural and historical legacy. The project encompasses all articles, categories and images related to the topic. This page and its subpages are hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you feel that you want to participate in the project, please feel free to join on the recruitment page.

The Illyrians were a confederation of Indo-European peoples subdivided into tribes and clans in a period coinciding with the end of the Bronze Age and beginning of the Iron Age. Their distribution area extended on the Balkan Peninsula along the Adriatic and Ionian Sea Coast within the Mediterranean Sea. In ancient Greek mythology, Illyrius was the son of Cadmus and Harmonia, who eventually ruled Illyria and became the founder of the Illyrian people.

The main goals of the WikiProject includes the following elements:

• to help list and categorise articles,
• to serve as a principal point of discussion for collaboration and
• to provide guidelines and recommendations for articles related to Illyria and Illyrians.
