Cochrane is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of a group of over 37,000 volunteers in more than 130 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research. The group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which is then published by Wiley-Blackwell in The Cochrane Library.

As of April 2013, Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access to 100 medical editors. Individual access would cost between $300 and $800 per single license subscription. Thank you Cochrane!

  9. Seniorexpat (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I am a patient-rights advocate who has benefited thus far from support by the European Lung Foundation to participate in medical congresses. I have tried to update outdated info. on bronchiectasis, but encountered barriers, one of which is limited access to publications behind paywalls. I am co-author of this German article Kongressbericht 1. World Bronchiectasis Conference – „This is the age of bronchiectasis“, Pneumologie 2016; 70(10): 622-626, DOI: 10.1055/s-0042-117121. I am also interested in Cochrane Global Ageing. Seniorexpat (talk) 17:00, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
@Seniorexpat: You haven't been very active lately - would you be able to make good use of this account? Nikkimaria (talk) 22:30, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
@Nikkimaria: Yes, eventually I should be able to make good use of this account. My efforts have been lately mostly off-Wikipedia. I was trying via email to convince another US expert to help me, and by networking with the proprietary Respipedia being developed in parallel by Gernot Rohde at the European Respiratory Society. Seniorexpat (talk) 08:55, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
  10. Dig deeper (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I like to "dig deeper" to find sources to make improvements to various medical articles. This would be most useful while working on the wiki project Unreferenced articles as well as sometimes this is while acting as a 3 opinion. I have made a total of 2,125 edits. I would love to have this as another tool in my tool belt. Most of my edits in the medical field have been focused on dentistry, though I have made edits to other medical articles to try to make them more "evidence-based". This would be a valuable tool in my tool belt. ThanksDig deeper talk 21:25, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
