Keep - Not redundant to {{Infobox fictional creature}} at all. Clearly the nominator has not done his homework. Only two of the fields (name and image) are common to both templates - if that is the criteria for making one template redundant to another then every infobox is redundant to every other infobox so let's get rid of them all and just use {{Infobox}} for everything. Infobox Primeval creature is an extremely custom template deliberately used only in List of creatures in Primeval where it is transcluded 80 times, not a mere 6 as implied by the nomination. Merging the two templates is inappropriate as the fields in Infobox Primeval creature are specifically aimed at the creatures appearing in Primeval and Primeval: New World and are thus irrelevant to every other fictional creature article. The template requires no maintenance as both series have ended and, while there may be a further call to use Infobox fictional creature, Infobox Primeval creature is unlikely to be used again, and certainly not in other articles. For this reason the two templates should remain separate. You're advocating bloating another template to add functionality that will only be ever used in one article. That doesn't make a lot of sense. As for having "specialized infoboxes for every single character list article", that certainly hasn't happened yet and, given the fact that we're only talking about 92 transclusions for the two templates, doesn't seem likely to happen. However, if it did that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. If we add fields to Infobox fictional creature to suit a single article we'll end up with an infobox full of fields that will be impossible to maintain. Merging the templates really doesn't improve anything. Of course, if they were merged it would seem smarter to merge Infobox fictional creature into Infobox Primeval creature as IFC is used only 12 times while IPC is used 80 times. --AussieLegend (✉) 06:37, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, some of the useful parameters like 'species' can be merged to fictional creature, and there are many trivial parameters that should have not been added in the first place. The fields used in this template are not trivial. They're entirely relevant to the TV series which revolves around the creatures in the article. The alternative to the infobox is use of tables but the infobox is a much easier, and more efficient option than creating 80 separate tables, which is what will be necessary if the infobox is deleted. Much of this information is in the prose, but is summarised in the infobox since it's significant information. Please explain why these fields are not appropriate for an infobox. Three of the fields are commonly used in infoboxes and several others parallel fields used in well established infoboxes like {{Infobox character}} so your claim needs to be substantiated. The claim that "there are many trivial parameters that should have not been added in the first place" doesn't make sense. The infobox only has 12 parameters in total. Of these, 2 (name and image) are common to many infoboxes, Underlying lk advocates keeping at least a third parameter (species) and 5 (appeared, first_primeval, last_primeval, first_new_world and last_new_world) identify which of the two series or the books in which the creature appeared. When talking about dinosaurs, the era of origin is very relevant and encycloaedic. That's a total of 9 of the 12. The remaining 3 parameters are hardly "many". This was created at a different location as a test to see if there was an alternate to an infobox that didn't require 80 individual tables. The template seems to be performing a function; deleting it and striving to perform the function in another way would entail extra work for someone (using time that would be better spent doing something that might be of some practical use), and will probably unnecessarily complicate another template.         One would think that if sufficient articles already exist that could benefit from such an infobox then there should be at least one or two that already use some form of infobox. There seems little point in "genericizing" this infobox on the off-chance that it could be used elsewhere if there aren't already examples of articles in which it could be used. Ah, but 18 is the number of first class counties - there are a further 19 minor counties. In addition, some first-class counties use more than one ground - Glamorgan, for example, play some matches at Colwyn Bay.
