White Deer Hole Creek near Fourth Gap in South White Deer Ridge in the Tiadaghton State Forest, Pennsylvania. The creek is rated 'Class A Wild Trout Waters' here.

This is a self nomination, as I both took the picture and have done most of the edits on the first article it appears in and illustrates, White Deer Hole Creek (which is probably up to Good Article level, but still needs a little work). It is also used in Tiadaghton State Forest, another (briefer) article I am a major contributor to.

I think the picture captures both the beauty and wildness of the creek and the surrounding forest. The sunlight on the water in the lower left corner is a bit bright, but I do not have the skills or software to fix that (if it needs to be fixed). This is one of the best photos I have taken for Wikipedia. I wanted to see what others thought of it and if it might be good enough for Featured status. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

This is a nice image but there are some technical flaws that will prevent this from being an FP. First, there are a few blown highlights (lower left corner, and some leaves in the top center). Next, the entire picture seems to be a little blurry -- did you have a tripod? And lastly, I hate to say this, but it's just a creek -- it's very lacking in the "wow" factor. But, if you're interested in getting a better shot just for your own sake, I would try this again with a deeper DOF (try f/16) and an ND filter. Mount the camera on the tripod and use the timer function so that the camera doesn't move when you hit the shutter. howch e ng {chat} 00:11, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks very much for your helpful comments. It was a hand held shot (1/15th of a second) with no tripod or filter (basically a point and shoot digital). I have a nice 35 mm SLR camera and will try again with your suggestions, this time with some fall colors (per a good friend's idea). I realize it is not a "wow" image, but even with its flaws it does do a good job illustrating what this partof the creek is like. Thanks again, Ruhrfisch 00:45, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
