Western Connecticut is a geographic region of Connecticut, defined by the Connecticut Council of Governments as being located in the southwest corner of the state.[1] Within this region, there are two Metropolitan Planning Organizations, those being the South Western CT MPO and the Housatonic Valley MPO. Western Connecticut encompasses the most densely populated region in the state[citation needed], as well as the Connecticut Panhandle and the Gold Coast.
