Jeihan Sukmantoro edit

Jeihan Sukmantoro (born in Surakarta, Central Java, 26 September 1938 - died in Bandung, West Java, 29 November 2019) or better known as Jeihan is one of the famous painters or painters from Indonesia. Is the founder of the Bandung Fine Arts Studio.[1][2]

Life edit

Jeihan was born on September 26, 1938 in Surakarta, Central Java (according to his confession, he was born in Candi Village, Ampel District, Boyolali, Central Java). This exspresionist-style painter started painting since he was a child. He studied painting at the Surakarta Cultural Association.[3]

To broaden his horizons, Jeihan went to Bandung, West Java in 1960. He studied at the Faculty of Art and Design Bandung Institute of Technology. However, he never finished his education at ITB because of his rebellious attitude.

This attitude is because he has experienced near death experiences. Jeihan did not receive a formal education until he was 15 years old. He had an accident that made him unable to attend education from the start.
