In universe template

I think that whenever we deal with fictional accounts we need to be careful. There are accounts of this particular creature that are clearly fictional, yet the reporting in that article is done as though the accounts are not fictional. ScienceApologist (talk) 16:06, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Along those lines, I notice you created Gold Coast Historic District (Chicago, Illinois)... i noticed it included an infobox that varied in some fields from what i would have expected. So i ran the http://www2.elkman.net/nrhp/infobox.php Elkman NRHP infobox generator, and used the output to make some additions/changes. Perhaps you are not aware of the Elkman tool? What do I do?

I wrote an article about Janelle Quintana aka Janelle Manahan. Formerly Janelle was one of the contestants of the reality-based talent search Star Circle Quest in the Philippines. Janelle is now well known outside the contest. In fact, she was on top 6. She currently appears in a TV Show, My Girl. My problem is this user, ISWAK3, who always redirects the article to Star Circle Quest. The Janelle Quintana article is notable and is well referenced. What should i do with ISWAK3? Hi. You participated in the AFD for the list that is now called List of The Simpsons characters in advertisements. I have tried making a lead for that article by finding some sources, but the ones I have access to does not mention anything useful. Could you find something for me? Well, I leave you with free hands. I just need a few lines for a short lead, to justify the rest of list. I imagine at least a source on the butterfinger campaign. When did it start? When did it end? What effect did it have? You could also have a source saying that the Simpsons are advertising icons as you said. Again it could be nice to know what kind of effect the Simpsons has when advertising for a product.

Trump Chicago

Trump International Hotel & Tower (Chicago) recently failed at WP:FAC. Since you have significant past service at WP:CHICAGO and participated in the debate, I am requesting your opinion. The substantive issues of debate seemed to focus on the following issues:

1. Should the article contain a section on the spa. My argument has been that the current plans call for it to be a business consuming two floors of the hotel and the the article can not pass WP:WIAFA 1b without describing it. Some say the spa is a trivial part of the business and its inclusion represents a form of advertising. I argue that describing a business operation is not per se advertising, but the perception on WP is that it is, which is why a project like WP:APARKS has no WP:GA or WP:FA articles. With that in mind do you feel the current section should 1. remain as is. 2. be slightly edited for POV tone. 3. be significantly trimmed for over emphasis 4. eliminated for irrelevance.
2. Should the article contain a section on the bar. Although the case is not as strong for the inclusion of the bar, my argument has been that the easily found WP:RS have described it and the the article can not pass WP:WIAFA 1b without describing it. I concede the sources are less important sources than for the spa and most of the rest of the article. With that in mind do you feel the current section should 1. remain as is. 2. be slightly edited for POV tone. 3. be significantly trimmed for over emphasis 4. eliminated for irrelevance.
3. There are three well-sourced (3 New York Times and 2 Chicago Tribune refs) sentences describing the role of Trump's Children. Should they be in the article? Should these sentences 1. remain as is. 2. be slightly edited for POV tone. 3. be significantly trimmed for over emphasis 4. eliminated for irrelevance.
4. There was debate over the need to have links to both List of tallest buildings in Chicago and List of tallest buildings in the United States in the article and further debate on whether to have these same links in the See also section. Please state your opinion on both issues.
5. There seems to be an issue on whether the second setback lines up with Marina City. Do you know of any WP:RS on the issue? If not do you think this should be mentioned in the text?
6. There are numerous words that I have linked that remain contentious with my rationales.

University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor

Thanks for the heads up. That's the craziest thing I've seen in my 16 or so months on Wikipedia. The contention is that a list of award winners is copied from a list of the winners published by the University of Michigan. The list of winners is not protected by copyright. But more importantly, the text in this article goes FAR beyond what is on the university site. I spent two months refining this to include additional information about each Hall of Fame member. I'll see what I can do about the reviews, but I really think the controversy section should go first. In A Streetcar Named Marge, it is 100% seperate from the reception section, but in this article I think the reader should read the stuff in controversy first so they will better understand the reviews. Do you think that reception should become a sub section of controversy? And I don't think we use too many quotes, the Chris Turner quotes are quite important, and I think the others work well. Sorry about getting back to you so late - I just got back from a wikibreak. It turns out I put the wrong link on the Columbus list - it was supposed to be this diagram link, which clearly shows that the structure was the tallest in the city at the time of its 1900 completion. Yes it's still being discussed and you know what bappens when i ask that they be removed. I get attacked by users like Wiki Greek Basketball and Apollon Hellas (who is the former's sock puppet). I would also like help with a user that harasses

He follows nearly every legit edit you make and reverts it. He then accuses you of making previous edits to a page which was someone else doing the edits. he then says those bad edits were yours and reports it to a mod as vandalism. He also accuses people of being "fan boys" if he ever sees an edit he does not like and uses this as justification for "reporting acts of abuse". Such as stating that a player plays shooting guard - he might say "no I disagree only a fan boy would think he can do this, you have been reported for abuse".

Also on the subject of "depth charts" he gets votes deleted off the discussion, something against site rules and constantly deletes depth charts saying "they are NOT allowed and is against site rules". He reports people for abuse if they put them there. Even though it is discusses and they were never "not allowed". He also chooses to only do this for depth charts of a couple teams and completely allows depth charts for numerous dozens of other teams.

On the subject of breaking site rules the violations are numerous and eggregious. Wiki Greek Basketball (talk) 16:32, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Re:Homer Groening

Yeah, I decided to try giving him an article although I was unsure about the notability. He was pretty borderline, he directed a NN film, created a NN comic strip, worked for and created a NN ad agency. Just about the only notable things he did was have Homer named after him and win an award. But put together, you have a slightly notable person. I asked an admin about it, and he thought it should be speedily deleted, so he did it. If you like, I can have the article copied to my (or your) userspace. BTW, I've been doing a lot of work on Homer Simpson as of late. It needs a copyedit, but I'm not too worried about that right now because I'm still expanding it. Hi, I noticed you undid my comment about Harry Shearer with the note "Not sure what you're getting at". My point is that Shearer's observation is somewhat nonsensical, for the following reason. To buttress his claim that the episode was a mistake, he asserts that the writers never mention it. This supports his claim only if there are other episodes that they do mention. I think it's valid to point out the weaknesses of his criticism. Yes, looking at it more carefully, you did make the report correctly, but for some strange reason, probably some sort of software issue, when i checked the IP's contributions while looking at AIV, the contributions did show up. I then found the IP in the page history of Mike Bibby, and the contributions showed up. As I said in the edit summary, I intended to block that IP, but then other AIV reports came and I forgot. I just wanted to thank you again for all the work you've been putting into the copyright problems at User:Moonriddengirl/sandbox. The ones listed at WP:CP are starting to show up now (there's a bunch today), which is a bit time consuming since most of them have to be rewritten completely from scratch, but it looks like we're making serious headway on the list, and at least there will not be any more from that particular contributor. (I don't believe he'll be unblocked unless there's evidence that he understands what's wrong with his contributions.) I have seen some extensive infringement before (all of the articles subsectioned here are by the same contributor), but this is the hands down most time consuming cp issue I've ever encountered. I did not disbelieve what you wrote, nor did I say that he was telling the truth. I said that the truth or not truth of his statement was irrelevent; even if the source did say what he said it did, he would not have gotten an unblock regardless. Edit warring cannot be justified by being "right".
