Bristen

Hey Zacharie

Sorry, I was a know it all... you seem to be right stating that Bristen belongs to the Glarus Alps. I was obviously influenced by my "patriotism" (too strong a word, but couldn't find another one suiting better)... It seems to me though that these definition of different parts of the alps is a little bit spongy. Using political names for these is a bit unfortunate... With a height of x

Can I just make the small point that the construction "With a height of 3,328 metres above sea level, X is the highest peak in Y" that appears in many of your articles sounds very much like a direct translation from the German (?) and doesn't sound right in English. We would write "X (3,228 metres) is the highest peak in Y". The "with" phrase sounds very strange! Thanks, Ericoides (talk) 07:36, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. I think "reaching a height of" would be better, although I think that simpler constructions are usually superior, zB, "The Hornenhorn is 3,000 m high and is the highest mountain in Hornland", rather than "Reaching a height of 3,000 m, the Hornenhorn is the highest mountain in Hornland". But that is just my personal preference. Incidentally, isn't "mit eine Hōhe von 3.000 m" a German construction? I thought it was, hence my thinking that yours was a direct translation!) It's a pitty for swiss people to have to read english. They should have the option to choose their native language. In particular if it's the language where such a company is located. Hello. Sorry I have no idea of what are the inclusion criteria of French and German wiki. But probably the best thing you can do is to start an article about Payerne Airport (there are no French nor German versions of it) and include there all relevant information. I'm not sure but I read carefully WP:NOTGUIDE and it doesn't say anything about what you mentioned (how to get to a place). In mountain articles you normally find a description of the normal and other routes to the summit. ZachG (Talk) 16:02, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

That list is not exclusive, it is saying that content you would find in a travel guide may not belong here. A section on "how to get to us" is clearly something you would find in a brochure or guide (or indeed on the tourist website for that location, [1]), it is not something you should have in an encyclopedia article--Jac16888 ^Talk 16:07, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Do you know some good sources (web, books, magazines, etc.) where I can find detailed description of Matterhorn geography: faces, ridges, glaciers, nearby places, etc.? Bavarian mountains

Hi Zacharie, thank you for your support with the Mountains of the Alps project. I just saw your comment on Mountains of Bavaria and we do need to add the Alpine ones. But as you may know, not all Bavarian mountains are in the Alps, e.g. those in the Bavarian Forest, Bavarian Rhön, Fichtelgebirge and so on. They're all part of Germany's Central Uplands. Hi Zacharie - I noticed you've been romping through, adding gradings to the Alps pages, which is brilliant. The chart on the Project page is really starting to get populated and is making some sense now. I've a question for you -are you at the same time also making any assessment of the quality of the articles, or just adding the alps-importance status?

I'm not very familiar with making these quality assessments, so have held off contributing. However, if you are doing a quality assessment, could you take a look at the Aiguille de Bionnassay article which I've been working hard to upgrade this month. It's gone from a one sentence stub for the last five or more years, to hopefully something a lot more useful. Even if I could, I'm sure I shouldn't be assessing my own work, anyway. Cheers. That is why citations are needed, or statements clearly marked as 'needing citations' if they do not. To me (as a UK citizen) the French position seems ridiculous. But both sides will undoubtedly have an official position on this. I would certainly wish to avoid a long list of citations being added for no good reason (especially if they're all from one nation), as seems now to be happening with the last sentence of the 'Ownership' section. Biodiversity Monitoring Switzerland

Dear Mr Grossen, the link to Pro Specie Rara is very misleading, as the Biodiversity Monitoring Switzerland BDM in its current form no longer analyses genetic diversity and in particular the diversity of farm animals and plants. The focus is on the diversity of species and habitats at various scales. The Z1 indicator "Change in the number of all domesticated livestock breeds and agricultural plant varieties recognized in Switzerland" was discontinued in 2014 due to cost-cutting measures (see https://www.biodiversitymonitoring.ch/index.php/de/archiv).
