DYK for Revolution on Granite edit

On 23 January 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Revolution on Granite, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Revolution on Granite was the first major political protest held in Kiev's Independence Square, and its methods were copied in the Orange Revolution and the Euromaidan? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Revolution on Granite. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Revolution on Granite), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Suggestion about Ukrainians edit

Hello Yulia Romero! Do you happen to want to translate into English the articles about these great Ukrainians:

- The faсe of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and the oldest and most ancient elected president of the Academy of Sciences in the world?

Would be very grateful, but the people who have done so much for the development of world in the world are now almost unknown.--Yasnodark (talk) 12:57, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sorry.... Yasnodark; the Revolution on Granite will the last article I created on Wikipedia. I don't enjoy editing Wikipedia as much as I used to do and I am persuing other interests in my free time now. Occasionally I edit for a little time on Wikipedia.... But only if I come across some information that I found important to add to already existing Wikipedia articles.

But do feel free to create these Wikipedia articles yourself! Google translated articles from Ukrainian language Wikipedia are also a good addition to English Wikipedia and nothing to be ashamed of to create! — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 17:12, 21 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

File:Logotype C14.png edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:16, 30 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Spontaneous things edit

Regarding your edit summary, there is a manual. It is called Animal Farm, and Chapter 9 says:

Napoleon had commanded that once a week there should be held something called a Spontaneous Demonstration, the object of which was to celebrate the struggles and triumphs of Animal Farm. At the appointed time the animals would leave their work and march round the precincts of the farm in military formation, with the pigs leading, then the horses, then the cows, then the sheep, and then the poultry. The dogs flanked the procession and at the head of all marched Napoleon’s black cockerel. Boxer and Clover always carried between them a green banner marked with the hoof and the horn and the caption, “Long live Comrade Napoleon!” Afterwards there were recitations of poems composed in Napoleon’s honour, and a speech by Squealer giving particulars of the latest increases in the production of foodstuffs, and on occasion a shot was fired from the gun. The sheep were the greatest devotees of the Spontaneous Demonstration, and if anyone complained (as a few animals sometimes did, when no pigs or dogs were near) that they wasted time and meant a lot of standing about in the cold, the sheep were sure to silence him with a tremendous bleating of “Four legs good, two legs bad!” But by and large the animals enjoyed these celebrations. They found it comforting to be reminded that, after all, they were truly their own masters and that the work they did was for their own benefit. So that, what with the songs, the processions, Squealer’s lists of figures, the thunder of the gun, the crowing of the cockerel, and the fluttering of the flag, they were able to forget that their bellies were empty, at least part of the time.

Citation problems at Ekaterina Gubareva edit

You added a paragraph to the article on Ekaterina Gubareva.[1]

There is a bit that says: "Gubarev was set to head the Free Donbass party list for the elections of the People's Soviet of the Donetsk People's Republic of 11 November 2018". This has a citation:

  • "Парламент ДНР сменил исполняющего обязанности главы республики". Meduza (in Russian). Retrieved 2018-09-07.

I have quoted the content of the source above. It does not support the text - maybe an older version did - I do not know.-- Toddy1 (talk) 08:27, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Україна logo.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Україна logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Opposition Bloc-For life edit

Hello, my name is User:Conservative King, I wanted to talk about the Opposition Bloc-For Life. I read on [2], that there was a creation of a new political party. I began writing an article, but then I saw you put a redirect page.

Thank you, Conservative King (talk) 15:44, 18 November 2018 (UTC) Conservative King (talk) 20:45, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Conservative King. I do not read [3] as saying they are creating of a new political party. But rather an alliance to work toghetter in the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election and the parliamentary election of the same year. So far they seem not to have decided to compete in the parliamentary election as one single and united party....
It is allowed to overwrite the redirect page I created and create the new Opposition Platform-For life article. But if it would barely can contain more information than currently in the subsection For life#Opposition Platform-For life I would not do it. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 21:06, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bloc vs Party edit

Hi I have a question since years. Why Petro Poroshenko Bloc and Opposition Bloc are parties but Bloc Yulia Tymoshenko is an alliance between Fatherland and others? --Panam2014 (talk) 23:39, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

In November 2011 the participation of blocs of political parties in parliamentary elections was banned.[1]
Technically Petro Poroshenko Bloc and Opposition Bloc are not alliances but unified political parties.... In reality they are not, but on paper they are.... I assume Petro Poroshenko Bloc and Opposition Bloc keep the word "Bloc" in their name for voter recognition or other PR/advertising reasons....

Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:55, 20 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. But why opposition Bloc is composed by various parties such as Party of Development? --Panam2014 (talk) 19:26, 20 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Because the participation of blocs of political parties in Ukrainian elections is banned technically opposition Bloc is not composed by various parties.... I understand this is confusing for you and other people who are used to Western-European political landscapes... Unfortunately in the Ukrainian political landscape party membership is extremely low and what is called "political parties" are most of the time special interest groups of a group of Ukrainian oligarchs and the opinion of the "common people members of the party" (if any....) does not influence the party. So the people behind the Party of Development (Serhiy Lyovochkin) are now leaving the Opposition Bloc to move to For life. The say (for PR reasons I assume) that the Party of Development is doing this while de-facto "the Party of Development" is nothing more than astroturf/only a political party (as in a grassroot organisation pushing for ideologic changes) on paper. The fact that most Ukrainian political parties are de-facto special interest groups instead of people who want to help/change the country for the better is actually a real problem in Ukraine. But because international media keeps calling these Ukrainian political parties political parties and we have to follow the sources in Wikipedia they keep looking like political parties.... I hope this answer was helpful; it was helpful for me to answer it; because it reminded me of the harmful shadowplay that is going on in my beloved Ukraine.... — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 23:44, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

All-Ukrainian Union "Solidarity" edit

Hi I think we should merge the article All-Ukrainian Union "Solidarity" and Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity". The party have been renamed. --Panam2014 (talk) 13:44, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. But I think we should have an article about the pre 2005/2013 Solidarity because the party have been dissolved in 2013 and BPP-S have not been founded in 2013 after the dissolution but in 2000 too. --Panam2014 (talk) 15:14, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
You are right; thanks for pointing this out. I made All-Ukrainian Union "Solidarity" a redirect page. I alo made National Alliance of freedom and Ukrainian patriotism "OFFENSIVE" a redirect page and moved the relevant information of it to Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity" because technically National Alliance of freedom and Ukrainian patriotism "OFFENSIVE" is the predecessor of Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity". — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:19, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. And for the first Solidarity movement? --Panam2014 (talk) 15:20, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your welcome 🤓. As for the Solidarity party that was dissolved in 2013.... De-facto (atleast it feels to me so) it is more the predecessor of Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity" since it was the political outlet for Petro Poroshenko. So I prefer to keep the information about this Solidarity completely inside and only in Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity". — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:30, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Okay. I think your position but the problem is that BPP-S have been founded in 2000 and have not been linked to Poroshenko until 2013 when his own party have been dissolved. But if Poroshenko had registrated a new party in 2013 instead rebranding an existing party, I would be in favor of a single article. --Panam2014 (talk) 15:33, 21 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Well I think from a prospect of logic it is good to keep all political outlets for Petro Poroshenko in one article (see also my explanation about Ukrainian parties being special interest groups of a group of Ukrainian oligarchs here direct above this thread). And so I am in favour of keeping things as they are now. If you do think it is a good idea to split Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity" into different Wikipedia articles please discus this on the talk page of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity". How to start this discussion is described at: Wikipedia:Splitting.

Thanks Panam2014 for your efforts to make the articles on Ukrainian political parties better. They don't get much attention by Wikipedia editors and I am afraid that is noticeable in their quality.... — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 14:03, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
