Your Jennifer O'Neill edit edit

Hi....yes, her CoverGirl spanned more than the 1970s, I know that, in fact it was over 30 years as pointed out lower down in the article that I was able to find the Smithsonian citation and put it in there. In fact she is probably known more for that than for her films.

Also, anyway, her role in that '42 film was not really nor exactly "pivotal", she was a protagonist actually and had a "starring" role. I think you should revert to "starring" IMHO.  :)

The placement of the intro where you put it, however, is just great. I was going to put it there, but did not know how to do it.....  :)

Taninao0126 (talk) 14:53, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK -- I'm not that familiar with the film. But reading the synopsis, it seems that the building tension and eventual sexual encounter between Hermie and Dorothy (O'Neill's character) is the central story of the film, which would make her role pivotal. If you prefer the word "starring" instead, I won't argue with that. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:08, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

My reply: Okay.....Wow...if you ever get a chance to actually see that movie, DON'T pass it up. It is REALLY good, "an oldie but a goodie" and a favorite in the home entertainment market. She tells in her bio how men on the production set cried when seeing the finale film takes.....  :) Taninao0126 (talk) 15:16, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've seen it, but it was probably 25 or 30 years ago when I did, so my memory of it is not that fresh! Thanks for the recommendation! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:19, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Naruto-Arena edit

You were question if Naruto-Arena has reached 3,000,000 players? Go here: http://naruto-arena.com/the-basics/ This is their website. Then on the left hand side next to the poll votes; you will see a list of members. Look at the sites members.

Members: Total members: 3,358,578 <--- See... — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArchAngelSephiroth (talkcontribs) 17:54, 8 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

A website's own "member list" is not a valid citation for the number of members. It would be a simple enough thing for the webmasters to generate a slew of false accounts simply to make the site look more impressive. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:59, 8 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Naruto-Arena. edit

Dan, the site generator is 100% correct. The game has three millions users. When you look at all country ladders and add them up you can clearly tell it's accurate. Also, when you create a new accounts the ID matches the current automatic generator for the site. Please reconsider; all my sites are accurate. Please stop removing what I put up. If I post something that a moderator said, then you should accept it. The head admin of Naruto-Arena said, "Anything a moderator says or any rule he makes; is official; and will be followed by others."

So I private message or something a moderator said is substantial proof and a valid cite. --ArchAngelSephiroth (talk) 00:00, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Actually, a private message between you and the site moderator is not a valid citation. Please refer to WP:RS. And the material you posted amounted to a users manual for the site, which is not Wikipedia's purpose. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 03:25, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

EDIT: Dan, what if I let you talk to Naruto-Arena's, Co-Owner? He will tell you the facts. And hopefully; you'll reconsider. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArchAngelSephiroth (talkcontribs) 12:47, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's not how Wikipedia works. Private communications between individuals cannot be held up for public scrutiny for verification. Any fact in Wikipedia must be verifiable by any editor who chooses to do so. Which means that the facts must be available in publicly available sources -- books, newspapers, magazines, journal articles, reliable websites. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:41, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

EDIT: So what are you asking of me? I've already posted things that the creator themselves put out, like: What Naruto-Arena is, the community, the peope, account statistics, swapping, etc. These are all true to the website. Also, it does have 3,000,000 players. It a very notable website. Most accounts are inactive though, however, that does not change the facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArchAngelSephiroth (talkcontribs) 14:22, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Clearly you are failing to understand. Anything that the site creator writes about the site is not a valid source because the site creator cannot be counted on to be neutral and unbiased about his own site. Citations must come from independent sources, like magazine articles about the site, or independent websites that have reviewed this site. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:28, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

EDIT: So I'll just retrieve some site reviews. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArchAngelSephiroth (talkcontribs) 10:57, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

hello dan edit

my name is adi, under the user name adichemoul it's the third time i'm writing an article under the name TolunaQuick, and i don't understand why other similar sites like mine are allowed to write more "freely" content about there site and nobody is erasing there articles, my last article was just two rows with facts. i read all the guides and articles about writhing NPOV. am i missing something here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adichemoul (talkcontribs) 12:57, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi dan first of all thank you for the super quick answer, I appreciate it. one more question, every description of my site will sound and look like promotional content.. what can i do ? and were can i try to see if it's ok with you?

again thanks adi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adichemoul (talkcontribs) 13:06, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Adi,
I didn't answer your first question, so I'm not sure what you mean by my "super quick answer". However, to answer you now, you appear to be operating under a misconception about what Wikipedia is (and more importantly, what Wikipedia is not). Other articles about various websites have not been created by the sites' owners -- that would be a conflict of interest. Rather they have been created (or at least extensively edited) by other editors, relying on reliable, independent sources to verify the information contained in the articles. Notable organizations and websites have been the subject of multiple independent coverage from which editors can draw neutral information about the organizations.
Because you claim that the TolunaQuick site is yours, you are not the best person to write about it (that whole conflict of interest thing). And because none of the articles you have submitted have included any citations to the aforementioned reliable sources, editors are forced to conclude that your site may not be notable enough to have received significant coverage, so there is no independent source from which to draw content. I.e., the company is not really a valid subject for a Wikipedia article.
Not every organization or website merits a Wikipedia article. If there is something unique about TolunaQuick, that has been documented in independent sources (e.g. reviews, magazine articles, etc.), then you would do well to indicate that unique character, and provide a valid citation.
I note that you have a current AFC request open. I would suggest that you take any advice I have given you here and apply it to that request. If you can more credibly assert the notability of the website, the AFC may stand a better chance. But again, keep in mind the conflict of interest rules -- your own closeness to the subject may blind you to your own biases when writing about the service.

WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:41, 14 February 2012 (UTC) Hi dan thanks for this answer... probably there was a misunderstanding, the site is not mine and i'm not working for him, so there isn't any conflict of interest, this site is just an example. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adichemoul (talkcontribs) 14:08, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Forgive my confusion. Your original question above included the phrase "i don't understand why other similar sites like mine", so I naturally assumed that the TolunaQuick site was yours. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:11, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

thanks again ! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adichemoul (talkcontribs) 14:25, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I did want to add some information to our Adult Ed section that we also provide consulting services to business and industry, but I understand if this is too promotional.

Please let me know.

Jeff, I noticed that your name matches the name of one of the staff at the school, so I'm going to go out on a limb (not so very far) and guess that you work for PRCTC? That being the case, please acquaint yourself with Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. Remember, Wikipedia is not a services directory, and is not meant to promote your school. Keep your tone neutral, and cite reliable sources. Just because you know a lot about the school, your personal knowledge must be verifiable by others. Given your username, and the obvious conflict of interest that it represents, you should limit your interaction on this article to the talk page, where you could suggest improvements to the page based on recent events. (Links to news coverage or other reliable sources for such events would help greatly.) The language you used in your updates is distinctly non-neutral, and reads too much like a press release for the organization. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:50, 16 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Adi -- I'm sorry I didn't respond. I assumed that since you received a response to you "Articles for Creation" submission that you would have had sufficient feedback on your article. To summarize what I and others have told you, the article on the TolunaQuick service does not indicate that the service is notable by showing evidence that the service has received significant coverage in multiple independent sources. Deletion help edit

My article on The Sales factory keeps getting deleted. I need your help making it appropriate. I have tried to make it as non biased as possible and am only seeking to write an informative piece. I have been working on this for weeks! please help me!! Wehra06 (talk) 15:42, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

You need to indicate why The Sales Factory is not just another run of the mill advertising house. Assertions of notability, backed by citations to reliable sources indicating significant coverage of this company are needed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:50, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have made several changes including adding references to more reliable sources. Please let me know what else i can do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wehra06 (talkcontribs) 20:16, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

In this case, I suggest that just walking away might be the best alternative. The sources you've provided still do not indicate that The Sales Factory is a notable company. The article about the packaging award was a press release by TSF itself. Other articles merely indicate that the group has gotten involved in local charity events. Laudable, but not notable. Given that you are so dedicated to a creation of an article about this organization, one begins to wonder about your motivation. If you are employed at or by TSF, you should familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:23, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I do not believe there is a conflict of interest. I am not employed by the company, but have been working on this for a school project. My dedication is simply a result of my quest not to fail my class. Wehra06 (talk) 20:46, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Li Xiannian edit

I can not believe you deleted all my photos and texts from the site of Li Xiannian! So I tried to improve your service to Wikipedia, and you've ruined everything. You are not informed enough about the man who was in China one of the most respected leaders.I have study Chinese history since the Communists came to power, and great to know whether that Li Xiannian was a very influential and respected. Well, this man was president of the largest country in the world, 2 years ago Hu Jintao was named the most powerful man in the world, and Li Xiannian is one of his predecessors. I am completely neutral as regards Li Xiannian, I just wanted to fix your pretty bad articles of the most powerful Chinese leaders. Please return my texts and photos! Please! : ((((((((( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 16:25, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

You are free to undo my reversion, but keep in mind that Wikipedia requires neutrality, and your edits did not conform to that policy. Whether or not Li was respected in China is not the point. All articles must adhere to the neutrality policy. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:29, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Li Xiannian edit

But I really tried to be neutral! I studied Chinese history and in all of Chinese history texts you can find the name of Li Xiannian. It is the only man after Mao Zedong, who reigned 40 years. Enter the translator Li Xiannian and search results in Chinese, you will see many results there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 16:37, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK, I'll let it stand, except for the phrase "influential and respected Chinese leader". This is the kind of language that violates neutrality. Readers can make their own assessment of Li's influence and respect based on the facts presented in the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:40, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Li Xiannian edit

OK, but if you can not convince .. Can I continue to edit the way I want, and you are free to make the later control?I will be neutral, but I want to write and what you have not yet, but I promise that I will write what is really tested. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 16:47, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Li Xiannian,Chen Yun edit

You do not allow me to write that Li was one of the influential (which really is so), and the site states that Chen Yun was one of the best leader EVER! So how is it possible? Chen was twice as less influential than Li, which is logical given that Li was president, and Chen little sideline, and again they can write that he was one of the best, most powerful and the like?! It is absurd! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 16:53, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I haven't looked at the Chen Yun page. The relative influence of various Chinese leaders is open to debate. Since most of Chinese politics occurs out of the sight of the public or the press, it would be difficult to assess the relative impact of any given leader. The article already has a sentence stating that he was "one of the most influential leaders throughout the PRC". What more would you like? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:25, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

But I ask you how it is possible that reproached me that I'm not neutral, and someone who has edited the page and Chen Yun called him the best leader ever in history, has not warned of neutrality, nor are his articles deleted as mine! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 18:59, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

As I mentioned before, I have had no interaction with the Chen Yun page. I found your edits and noted them as non-neutral. I will admit that my first reversion may have been over-zealous. I believe that between us we have managed to add the information you wanted while maintaining a proper tone of neutrality. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:01, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this, although I still can not reconcile with the fact that you have deleted all my texts that I have spent much time .. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 19:05, 1 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have said before that you are free to restore any text that has been removed. If you look at the page history, you can view any earlier version of the page (inluding the one before I reverted) and restore the text. I would not suggest this, however. The text I reverted not only contained much that was non-neutral (or at least unverifiable), and was in very poorly written English as well. The clean-up effort that would ensue were your text to be restored would undoubtedly remove much of your writing in favor of better English anyway.

Just a note since you seem to have run-ins with Koroknait: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ana Sušac--Atlan (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry you're angry, but you must realize that you now have at least two editors who disagree with the neutrality of your edits to Li Xiannian. As I pointed out on your talk page, neutrality requires that any opinions stated on a page must be cited, and it must be made clear that they are the opinions of a particular person. I.e. you cannot write "Li was much beloved by his people" or "Li was a great and powerful leader". You can write "John Doe has called Li a great and powerful leader", but you then must provide a citation to that quote from John Doe. For the record, the only thing I have done to the article recently is to remove an appositive phrase from the introductory sentence that was unnecessary and caused the sentence to be grammatically incorrect. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:37, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just recently I opened an account on Wikipedia, and I was not familiar with the part called-references. For each sentence that I write,I have written evidence. How can I see, I'm already blocked. You are not yet blocked, although if the sock puppet investigation turns out against you, you will be. However, if you can't recognize the non-neutrality present in writing such as this:
Li's impressive political career, from the head of the provincial party branch to the governor, then the Minister and the closest premier ally to the first deputy prime minister and then to Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of China, and a crown of large and recognized career-election to the position of president, and then in the name of gratitude for his long-term successful work, the choice as chief of CPPC, made him one of the China's top leaders in the history of communist China.
then maybe you should not be editing an encyclopedia where neutrality is a central core, but should instead start your own blog in praise of President Li. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:51, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

But the fact is that was one of the best! I will send you the texts about how if you want! Again a bit of neutrality on the page Chen Yun-He is there also called the best leader ever in the history of China! If it is neutral ... koroknait — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 15:55, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Li Xiannian edit

I was incredibly ... 2009 celebrated the 100th birthday of Li Xiannian .. The whole country was involved in the celebration, Hu Jintao and other leading officials attended .. Jimmy Carter arrived in his hometown .. Jiang Zemin was crying for him at the funeral in 1992, and you are such a pathetic article written by a powerful president of China. Chen Yun and other senior officials who were not even half as influential as Li was written extensive articles on Wikipedia and the non-neutral, and you delete all my sentence. But the fact is that was one of the best! I will send you the texts about how if you want! Again a bit of neutrality on the page Chen Yun-He is there also called the best leaders ever in the history of China! If it is neutral ... I am disappointed with Wikipedia ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 15:52, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Admittedly, articles written about Chinese heads of state may be lacking, due to the covert nature of the Chinese government. The importance of such figures as perceived by the people of China may vary greatly from their importance as perceived by the rest of the world, in large part due to state control of the media within China. As recent events in North Korea have borne out, public displays of sorrow at the funeral of a leader are likely more politically motivated than personally. It would be wonderful if we could flesh out the articles on all of the Chinese leaders of the Communist era, but we can only do so using neutral language and reliable sources. Sadly, reliable sources are largely lacking for these leaders, again due to the inherent secrecy of the government itself. I'm sorry if this situation disappoints you. I'm sure you're not alone in that feeling. But until reliable sources become available, we'll just have to learn to live with these disappointments. Li Xiannian edit

In part you are right, but many details about them are still known, especially the Li Xiannian in China, which is one of the most respected leaders, and those he called the Chinese state television. Unfortunately, not enough informed about the Chinese leaders, and therefore does not allow other people who care, information about it. You really are not correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koroknait (talkcontribs) 16:07, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why don't you open a discussion on WP:WikiProject China to address these concerns? The users there are quite knowledgeable about the issues. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:15, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Li Xiannian edit

Please do not delete my last edit of Li Xiannian. When you do not already allow you to edit, I decided to give up one time, and please do not delete the last changes on that page. And all my edits now have references. I'll stop deleting your edits when you stop making non-neutral edits that are either uncited or not supported by the given citation. In the present case, you have named Li and Chen "the most powerful elders and economic reformers", even though the book you cited never makes such an assertion. Li Xiannian edit

I actually found the article on Google. If you do not believe me, check yourself: Write to the Internet: Li Xiannian and Chen Yun, and you'll see the results for some books in which it actually says! This time, my neutrality is hundred percent! If you wish, I shall quote in this part of the sentence, but I do not know how to do it, I do not know what to type. If you can help me, I'll give a quote(citation), because I really found this on internet, in a book titled "Deng Xiaoping and the Great Transformation of China." Li Xiannian edit

I actually stated the true sources, and I do not understand why pages do not want to show. I'll try to fix it. Koroknait (talk) 16:50, 9 March 2012 (UTC) KoroknaitReply

Yes, you stated the true sources. But not every web page on the internet is a reliable source. Before you respond again, read the reliable source policy. You clearly do not understand it. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:12, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Li Xiannian edit

These were my last edit on the page Li Xiannian. I think a president who is highly respected in China deserves better written articles on Wikipedia. I think I contributed with my edits it and sincerely hope that you will not delete anything because everything is legally accurate and neutral. Gahan(Gahame) variant edit

Hi Dan

Thanks for your contibution with Gahame a variant of Gahan. There is a page I would like to start with your help. I am very interested in doing the "variants" Anglicised surnames from the Mac Eachain. I shall name the wiki page Surname variants from Mac Eachain. I have a lot of information on this page and will start it and hopefully with your help develop it further. Other work I have started is the Paletta surname. I have a lot of knowledge on a few surnames, but struggle with content and lay out of the page.

Regards

Robert, I encourage you to do what you can, and rely on more knowledgeable editors to correct any layout and style issues that might occur. However, I encourage you to do so only if you can provide reliable sources for your information. Your Paletta (surname) article is entirely unreferenced. Despite rumors to the contrary, WIKI does not stand for What I Know Is... Articles must be verifiable, based on citations. For example, you claim that the name Paletta derives from pall meaning "cannon ball". Indeed, the Italian word palla does mean ball, but without evidence in reliable sources, one cannot know if that is, in fact, the proper derivation. The name could derive from any number of similar Italian words. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:39, 13 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
