Thanks for uploading File:Outlook Mail Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

NFCCEdit

Hi.

Have you ever heard of WP:NFCC? Take a look at it. Pay close attention to its article #1.

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 08:18, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

If you have a "free" image in mind, then be my guest. The biggest issue here is both the Khan academy app and the Wikipedia app both were developed for Windows 8 as Windows Runtime 8.x apps, thus they are not UWP apps. WikIan -(talk) 08:29, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
Oh, so you know about NFCC? Good. But the crazy part about it is that sometimes it demands people to travel to North Korea in hopes of getting a glimpse of its leader instead of using a non-free image of him. I've got used to it. Still, this case isn't that crazy. The UWP vs. WinRT distinction isn't something that demands a new screenshot. And even if it did, you could have taken a screenshot of a non-free UWP app and a free Windows app, which isn't the case with your shot.
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 08:35, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
I just wanted to clarify (and hope you understand) that the captions on the current images are wrong. WikIan -(talk) 01:54, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
I looked at Khan Academy's source code once before. I think it was a UWP app. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 09:54, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
@Codename Lisa: The Khan app was created for the WinRT platform and I believe it was never updated to UWP. Plus, it's being discontinued. The easiest way to tell is by this dropdown at the top and this app menu that replaced the Windows 8 Charms bar in Windows 10. Additionally, this source states that "if Khan Academy had supported Windows 10 via UWP..." WikIan -(talk) 01:54, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
I see. Then I might have been wrong.
Although MSPowerUser's sentence is a bit misleading: UWP apps can target desktop only; or target desktop, Xbox and HoloLens without targeting mobile. If I had more time these days, I'd have skimmed the source code again.
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 09:44, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

Calendar ScreenshotEdit

Hi Wiklan,

Thanks for being willing to post a screenshot of your inbox to reflect UI changes in Mail (Windows). It looks good! Would you be willing and comfortable to do the same for updating the Calendar (Windows) screenshot?

Thanks so much, Onecatowner (talk) 04:50, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

Sure, however I've been really busy (and haven't been editing much). I'll do it as soon as I have time. WikIan -(talk) 21:54, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

Surface Dial draftEdit

Hi there,

I have noticed that a number of users have been working on the draft page at User:WikIan/Surface Dial, but you have hardly been active on it. To this end, it seems like moving the page to the "Draft:" namespace would be more reasonable. Would you mind if I make this move out of your userspace so that it becomes more accessible to other users?

Regards, ««« SOME GADGET GEEK »»» (talk) 00:40, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi,
Yeah, go ahead. The majority of the content was already merged into the main Microsoft Surface article under the Surface Dial section.

Paint 3DEdit

Ah! Finally! Someone doesn't upload non-free screenshots to Commons and does not post his own speculations!

WP:NFCCEdit

Hello.

Let's put my message into the form a quiz, just for fun: (1) Who has the most liberal view to WP:NFCC in Wikipedia? (2) Who has most recently posted WikiLove to you? (3) Who have you most recently attacked personally even though that person didn't comment on your person? The answer all three is: Codename Lisa! Your NFCC violation is so severe that even Codename Lisa doesn't approve, and you add insult to the injury with personal attack and playing fool. It is high time you take one good hard look at what you did. And if you don't want people to avoid you, well stop acting like morons. What makes you think morons have an advantage in Wikipedia anyway?

FleetCommand (Speak your mind!) 14:01, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

If you want to patch things up with Codename Lisa, you can. Start by acknowledging the problem. FleetCommand (Speak your mind!) 14:26, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Re: Windows 10 build titlesEdit

Please do not unilaterally make a controversial change to a long-standing aspect of the article without gaining consensus first. Thank you.

ViperSnake151  Talk  05:15, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi ViperSnake151,
I find it hard to believe you're not familiar with WP:CYCLE. It shouldn't cause any consensus issues anyways due to WP:COMMONNAME and the fact that a similar reference scheme is used in Windows 10 version history
WikIan -(talk) 05:23, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
That page is subject to different consensus and practices. ViperSnake151  Talk  05:35, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
@Codename Lisa:, are you aware of these so-called "different practices"? WikIan -(talk) 07:52, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
In way. The consensus established is the weakest form of consensus: Silence. I remember another dispute, but I am not aware of a more conclusive consensus. So, you two seem to have dispute. —Codename Lisa (talk) 08:01, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

File:DVD Player (Windows 10) icon.pngEdit

Hello.

Since the equivalent of this file on Commons is already deleted as non-free, putting a {{PD-textlogo}} in is ignoring precedent. At least, not without a discussion in FFD.

Also, as I understand, being composed from simple shapes isn't enough. It must be a simple shape.

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 06:41, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi,
Funny you should say that, over at Commons the user who deleted the file stated they did not want a duplicate here of Fair Use items. In actuality, I believe that this icon is already in the public domain. I am using this icon: File:CarCreditCity.png as a precedent. It is not simply a geometric shape. Neither is the Windows Update logo over at Commons, which is in the public domain. WikIan -(talk) 07:27, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
"Funny" is the word. He says "From my understanding, the file should be brought to FFD at Wikipedia, and restored here if the decision at Wikipedia is to delete" even though in almost every other respect, I disagree with him.
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 07:46, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Do not do thatEdit

Well that was fairly stupid; you pretty much just shot your entire complain in the foot. It is not OK to link to a bunch of vandalism attacking another editor, and express support for it. If you do it again, I will block you from editing. Is that clear? --Floquenbeam (talk) 20:08, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

@Floquenbeam: To be clear, I support absolutely no harassment or vandalism of any kind. I absolutely would never to that to anybody. I was simply pointing out evidence that I am not the sole target or (what some people believe) the perpetrator here. I was simply pointing out others obviously felt this way, and I have followed the guidelines to the best of my knowledge, where some people are acting like WP:OWN is inapplicable and disregard WP:CYCLE. That screenshot is gone. WikIan -(talk) 20:44, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 21Edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cornerstone Fellowship, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Danville (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Proposed deletion of File:Bashonwin10.pngEdit

The file File:Bashonwin10.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned. The content of this screenshot would seem to make it unencyclopedic.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File permission problem with File:Cornerstone Fellowship Logo.jpgEdit

Thanks for uploading File:Cornerstone Fellowship Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B (talk) 19:56, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Image without licenseEdit

Unspecified source/license for File:CF Easter Sunrise Service April 2019.jpgEdit

Thanks for uploading File:CF Easter Sunrise Service April 2019.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
