Left's RfA

edit

I've struck your oppose. Feel free to add your support in the support section, but I'm not going to stand by and watch as an otherwise perfect RfA goes down the tube over a not-so-funny joke. —Ed (talkmajestic titan) 19:34, 26 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ed, I guess you need to inculcate more civility and of course, humour, in your way of working. But surely, I won't revert your changes. This was intended, and will remain, just a point in humour, irrespective of your behaviour. Personally, I do think Left will be an extremely credible Admin. I've been slightly peeved over other joke opposes in other RfA's, and this one—thrown onto the RfA of one of the best candidates I've seen recently—just put me over the edge. I really don't like them (as I'm sure you can tell!), but I apologize for my actions here. Next time I'll just leave a message on the RfA and/or their talk page without striking. On a side note, I had to go look up "inculcate" in a dictionary. I kind of like it, so I think I'm going to try to use it in real life tomorrow. :-) —Ed (talkmajestic titan) 04:15, 27 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wiffione, Thank you for you reply again! The words we use are our own texts, we made them ourselves. So I don't understand why there can be a copyright violation (of our own text?)? Wikia is just the exact copy of the text we made. Or is this an automatic process and do we have to solve it like this? In case we have to rewrite it, how much 'rewritten' must it be? Is it just about a few words, or do we have to mix up everything? Please help again! Thank you, AstridA.groot (talk) 08:54, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, the problem is that those words are present on other websites, and there is no way for an administrator or me or any other editor to tell whether these words were originally created by you or by others. Perhaps you could rework each and every sentence so that the construction of the sentences is different, but the meaning remains the same. I'll try and help you this week. Houthoff Buruma The Game

Houthoff Buruma The Game is a serious game designed for recruitment purposes. In this interactive multimedia game, law graduates are challenged to display their skills. The Game is developed in 2010 by Houthoff Buruma and Ranj Serious Games.

As an example from the Netherlands of best practice world-wide involving serious games, Houthoff Buruma The Game was introduced at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The Dutch government's investment in 'the GATE Project' shows the growing importance of serious games for business purposes. (Game Research for Training and Entertainment).

Gameplay

Players of the game represent China Mining & Marine, a demanding and unforgiving client. This state-owned giant has to construct the Panlong Renewable Energy Park, to meet the unprecedented energy goals of The People's Republic of China within an ambitious time frame. China Mining & Marine needs six specific vessels equipped with a unique installation technology, to succeed in completing the task in such a short time. These six vessels and the essential know-how are however in the hands of 't Hoen Marine & Offshore, a century-old Dutch family business. Because the Panlong Renewable Energy Park has become a matter of prestige for China, failure is not an option. China Mining & Marine needs those six vessels as soon as possible and is determined to acquire 't Hoen. What will it take to motivate the members of the 't Hoen family to sell their shares?

The students will be competing against each other in up to five teams, with up to five people in each team. They have 90 minutes to convince enough shareholders to sell their shares and to draft a 'Letter of Intent'. During the play they will be confronted with all kinds of information: video and text chats, e-mails, websites, conference calls, Facebook pages and Youtube movies.

You're not asking for deletion but suggesting a rename, which has nothing to do with deletion. It's articles for DELETION, not articles for RENAMING. Deletion, not renaming. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 19:05, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi TenPoundHammer. Thanks for your message. Perhaps you did not read what I wrote: 'I would have prodded/speedied this, but expected considerable dissent, considering the viewpoints expressed. The term 'Facebook Revolution' is quite generic and cannot be used to signify anything just to do with Kashmir, a state with geographies extending into both India and Pakistan. Either this page should be deleted; or the page in reality should have a generic connotation (aka, 'Facebook revolution' across the world...)'.
  • TenPoundHammer, the reason that an editor gives options while opening an AfD is to allow editors to have the ability to get additional points of view. • Therefore, I suggest an appropriate closure would have been only after seven days of discussion, given the controversial nature of what is written in the article. The article, if supported with reliable sources, could have escaped my AfD if it had been named "Facebook Revolution in Kashmir". But to have a generic name like "Facebook Revolution" and have details of Facebook's usage in Pakistan, is inappropriate and too generic a usage. I request you to reconsider your speedy close. I'll wait till tomorrow; and if we still don't agree, will place the AfD closure details and these discussions on ANI, and finally, if required on Deletion Review. I'm going to have to ask the same question. I don't see any argument for deletion anywhere in your nom. Your nom argues that the article should be moved. Just saying "the article should be deleted" without any sort of backup is not a valid argument for deletion, and in any case an improper title is never a valid reason for deletion.
